I have a brush clearing business BAD AXE FORESTRY MOWING. It is breaking me because of increased cost and repairs. Because of this forum I purchased a new trailer, hot water washer, delavan fat boy and all accessories. I find I'm not giving 100% to roof cleaning. Trying to keep everything going, lining up jobs, scheduling, advertising ect... is wearing me down. That being said. I was wandering if anyone has a partner other than his wife?
Nope, its just me. And i have a hotel to power wash and i have a 24 acre property to surface clean. Plus I work a 40+ hour week job just for insurance. I feel your pain my friend

I'm with ya on the 40 hr job. I have washed for years. Lost interest . ROOF CLEANING brought me back. Not the kind pictured in Cleaner Times. I have a friend that is a christian, family man, smart and a good salesman he would be the one I would consider. Just pondering.
i learned from the past that you work more hours when it's your own business, hardly see the kids. now i'm thinking of inviting my kids to help out since they're older.
that's a challenge.

My 14 and 11 year odl pulled hosed and tarped plants this summer with me. They also hooked up sprinklers and the 14 year old worked as a ground guy. They don't ever get on a ladder and I am always keeping them back so they don't breathe any of the fumes.

Thats Awsome. Work the piss out of them. My youngest son is 27. I always got up early. Cut grass, cleaned up outside . He was on his ass asleep. Id tell my wife. I'm going to get that boy up to help me. She would say no, he's going to pitch or has a game. Something. They need to develop a work ethic. We are to providing. Kids have to learn late in life that it wont always be handed to ya. Looking back she knows she was too protective.
I can relate to what you are saying. After several years I was able to convince my wife to allow me to "force" my then 17 yr. old son out of the house and work with me. After 4 years of dragging him out of bed at 6 am and working him hard 5 days a week. He begged for us to help him and he graduated from ITT Tech after 2 years second in the graduating class. Within 1 month after graduation was hired by CNN in Atlanta. He started in January of this year. He found a place to rent, moved up there and has since been promoted to Broadcast Engineer and bought a house. Making more $$$$ than I!!
So for those of you who are wondering if teaching your children the roof cleaning business will pay off? If it doesn't , it will surely wake them up to the real world.
I wish my parents had done the same for me..........

Well, after my last post.....My 13 year old son handed out flyers in the area and landed a house wash job. I gave him 10% plus hourly for pullin hoses and taking pictures. He seemed to like that! He bought Xmas gifts for his 10 year old sister and 3 year old brother and gave his 20 year old sister a gift card.
It was a proud moment for both of us on Xmas day to watch him hand out his gifts to family and watch THEM open gifts from HIM!
He is now asking how do WE get more jobs....
Last night I was putting together flyers to mail and my 10 year old daughter asked to help, the next thing I knew she was putting everything together and I was on the couch with my wife relaxing and watching a movie. She is now in charge of envelope stuffing, and mailing out flyers...
