I thought that EVERYBODY Knew that Owensboro Ky. is the BBQ capital of the world! They have teams that go to all the competitions and have won almost everytime they enter. Team that up with Ky. Whiskey, pretty horses and fast women and you've got a great place to live. (Ky that is, not Owensboro) I live in Louisville!
I am split between the BBQ of St. Louis and the South. My Grandfather used to make the BEST ribs. I havne't had them in years. He has been very ill.
The truth of the matter about BBQ'ing is that it really doesn't matter how good the food is. It is the friends and family that you get to share your time with that makes the experience. Lori
I have eaten BBQ in various places around the country when I was traveling alot in my corporate job. I have always believed that BBQ was as good as the person doing the cooking and the flavor of their sauce.
In all my travels I have not found anyone who can match the ribs at Jenkins BBQ in Jacksonville, FL. Once you eat them, ribs anywhere else are a disappointment.
Believe it, or not, the BBQ up in Detroit is among the best I have ever eaten ! Here is why. Many people from the South left to move to Detroit and make big money as Autoworkers! They brought their BBQ habits with them. Now, when you take the Corn Fed Pigs from Michigan, with Southern Folks who know how to BBQ them, ya got goot eats !
Anyone ever had Sour BBQ, like South Carolina does, using vinegar in the sauce ?
the best bbq is in a pit in the ground lined with palm leaves and coals.....then throw in the hog and come back in about 4 hours........awesome. they do it that way on the islands...mmm

Owensboro has Moonlite BBQ, and Moonlite sucks. Shyler's BBQ in Evansville is the absolute best I have tasted.
