what's in the tank?

Hello Pros,
I've read and seen rigs set up with 2 to 3 tanks.  My question is what is in each one?  Do you keep the mix in the 300 and then water in the 55's?  Or is the 300 filled with water and the 55's have the mix? 

Can I use just any old water tank?  What should it be made out of?

I appreciate your valuable insight.

no you can't just use any old tank. I noticed you just joined yesterday. you will find the search button at the top of the screen. spend alot of time reading at the beginning.

i run a 300 gallom tank with pure water and two 50 gallon tanks with pure sh and the rest of the mix my custom pump pulls from the 300 and one 50 this way i can have both tile and shingle strenth mixes on the trailer with the capability of caring 200 gallons of mix and still be under DOT guild lines otherwise 100gallons of love is the most you are alowed to cary

Wow, thanks for the info and the photos. Every bit of information really helps paint the picture of what i am getting into. I can see the value of thinking all of this through and researching. I would like to do things right when i finally get going.
