How many on here use Craigslist for advertising? There are numerous areas that you can post your ad in. If you have several email accounts, you can post ads for each one which will enable you to place many ads on a daily basis. Best part is, it is TOTALLY FREE!!
I have been using CL for about six weeks for the handyman business. I get a lot of calls and estimates. But have gotten zero jobs. My opinion is that these are just window shoppers or people that may want the job done but done want a professional. The closing rate from CL is much different (the opposite) of regular calls. I get about 80% of the jobs from other sources.
Out come may be different with roof cleaning. It is always worth a try. With Roof Cleaning, at least you get in the neighborhood and when your done talking with the customer that called you can post flyers at neighbors houses.
Same here, all I get are price shoppers. What I think happens is someone sees it and goes WOW they can do that but they have no idea of the cost until they call. Some have luck with it, I find it a waste of my time. 6 months and only one roof cleaning job. Spend your time working on your web site content and get a blog and people that WANT their roof cleaned will find you because you raised your google rankings. Besides that you get bumped off the front page very fast.
when i pushed craigslist hard i would get a decent amount of work but it was a much harder sale getting people on CL to spend $400 or $500 is not easy but it is possible just be prepared for some lowball counter offers these people have no problem offing you $100 after you just told them $400 just dont seem desperate keep telling them no till you here yes. my biggest success was scaring the customer in to using a pro not a hack when you tell them what can happen the start turning around

I've never tried Craigs List. I've had enough bad experiences just trying to sell stuff on it. I can only imagine trying to sell a customer on a $400-$500 job like Bill said.
I searched "roof cleaning" in my local area on craig's list and found an ad that has this picture attached. Two guys going at a tile roof with pressure washers. I know pressure washers are a no-no for asphalt shingles but what about tile roofs. Can they be damaged with a pressure washer?
oh yeh twenty new spam email crap daily when i first posted the next day i opend my email twenty new i said wow thats great 30min later when i was done reading them there was only one true customer

I feel the same as Chris. I do not want my company on it because it takes away from our image. Also, I odnt want to be liste4d with spammers. If someone is looking for roof cleaning in your area, then they will find you.
