Gotcha Guys, it is almost funny sometimes, when a customer dont know the REAL color of his roof.
The roof cleaning knowledge we all take for granted is not always known by all.
This is why it is so important to educate your customers.
This is what sets an RCIA Certified Roof Cleaner apart from the hacks with a pressure washer, out cleaning roofs.

Had one today also. I was out putting flyers in peoples paper boxes. I came upon a guy out cleaning up the leaves in his yard. I got out of my truck and walked up to him. Introduced myself and started explaining my services. He looked at me real funny, and said, "thats why I got a BLACK roof, so I wouldn't have that problem." When I showed him that he actually had a lite grey roof, he was totally blown away. Not booked yet, but will be by next week. confuse

Chris, just charge him $600.00 and Paint the rest of the roof black. That shouldn't take your guys long to do.

Ok, since no one seems to be answering.
The area under a vent pipe receives a little less rainfall, because water runs down, and around the vent pipe.

This keeps the area under a vent pipe a bit drier.
This, combined with the metal in the vent pipe/flashing releasing zinc oxide, keeps that area clean.

Make sense ??

Without looking at any sites, I'll take a shot in the dark to see if I really know what I'm talking about.

Could it be because anything that is galvanized has zink and zink is a natural fungicide.

That is my final answer. Let's see if I'm smarter than a fifth grader.

Actually, questions like this is a good idea as a pop quiz to keep us on our toes.

That's why when I built my house, I shingled it all with roof vents lmao

I think its because the clean spots represent where water does not flow.
