You guys gotta tell me what you think about this moss issue in Oregon! It is growing out of control...lol. As B-E-A-utiful as it is, I would like to hear some strategies and techniques on cleaning this roof up.
I know we are in a society of instant gratification so tale this with a grain of salt.
Get a SOD cutter....... LOL Just kidding.
The roof cleaning solution will immediately kill the plant but only time can safely remove it without causing any more damage. Spray and kill it and then wait 30 minutes for it to rain again...LOL and check back in a couple of weeks.
I know guys don't like to make trips back but for your piece of mind and confidence in the LOVE make the trips on this one and document each trip with photos and journal then you would have an accurate record of what happens when the moss is that bad.
Only the guys in the PNW seem to get moss that bad. I know others get moss but the PNW photos seem to be the worst.
I just finished one. The moss was so bad,it was lifting the corners up. I broomed off the bulk without scrubbing to hard. I sprayed it with a 5% solution, maybe to strong, but I wanted to get it killed. Then went over it with a double wide fluffy paint roller to work it into the moss. Then left it with no rinse. Wait six months to see,you aint gett'n them that roots out.
I spray and let it dwell about 15 minutes until the moss turns grayish white. I'll respray if moss is still greenish. I"ll then rinse areas that have heavy moss. Any residue moss will eventually rot away.
Another moss man from B.C.'s west coast told me why we are having such bad moss this year. We have not had a cold winter and that gives the moss more ideal time to grow.
I've seen it before when we have spring like weather in February, come April/May it will be cold and dreary.
