hey fellas...caleb here from australia

roofs are going well...

on one of my commercial jobs i came accross these massive white shade sails that are quite heavily soiled...see in the pics below...

anyone know how to get this crap off them without a scrubbing...i was thinking a diluted apple cider mixture would do it...

thought i would see if anyone has tackled something like this before...

Hi Caleb

I'm thinking love would work providing the material is synthetic ( man made material ) other than that you know what bleach can do to cloth.  most likely they are synthetic. always do a test in a inconspicuous area.

Caleb,
Here is a thread I remembered from a while back. It addressed exactly what you are talking about.

Hey Caleb,

Not too many of those things around Pittsburgh, but I will tell you this.......I cleaned my deck furniture umbrella with full strength love, because I had some extra. It is probably the same type of material.

I sprayed from underneath and the cool part is that it went through to the other side (no need to spray the top). I did have to rinse, but it was night and day better. Cleaned like a charm.

I'm not sure I would go full strength on the Love, however I have also cleaned patio furnitue with a mixture of  about 50% less bleach.

test sample...test sample. always. If it's synthetic material love should work.

You could search for awning cleaning info. I wish I could help. I'm glad you ask for help on this. Maybe we can all learn something from this.

I would defiently do the test sample first. The last thing you want is to get a $20,000 bill for messing up the shade.

I know some shades are treated with a water repellent, I would think that the wash chem may eat the repellent. If the manufacture say no chlorine I dang sure would not use it. You would be taking the liability if it no longer sheds water. Ask the manufacture what they recommend. My two cents Good luck. MW
