This is a link on ebay from a company in my home town where I was raised. Wellington is mostly money. Homes ranging well in to the millions. This guy is advertising 2500sqft homes for 200 bucks and says his normal pricing is .10 a sqft. We'd be better off paying these guys 200 bucks to stay home, and we could still make money. So Sad!

That is some f-up stuff right there. I have the same problem from two company's here in Virginia Beach, VA. One is George Ronan Pressure Washing, they do the splash and dash and charge around 200.00 on a roof I would charge 350.00 to 400.00. Also another called marc's pressure washing, both of these guys give a 5 year warranty on roof cleaning and I only go 2 years. Its some bs but what can you do.
its happening here to my average price is $375- $500 but if im on a 4 roof run and im trying to pay for my chem i have been known to do a $600 for $375 (right mike?)

Hey dan that is right. The basic topic of this conversation is to keep the pricing at an average and to keep our profit margin on a somewhat equal playing field. I personally do not want to see this industry turn into anything like the power washing industry where you have to praticaly give your service away to land the job. that is my two cents.
I think he bottom line is how are they cleaning the roof. Are they pressure washing? there is no way they can offer a 2, 3, or 4 year warrantee. You will get these customers in the long run. Just be patient.

The best way I can see to combat this sort of behavior is to educate the public. Make sure they understand the insurance that we carry, the precautions we take and he history of good customer service. I have a handyman background and I run into this a lot.
If he is doing 2500 sq ft home, he is actually charging 0.8 cents a square foot. A 2500 sq ft with a 12/4 pitch will have somewhere around 3,200 sq ft of roof. If it is a 12/6, aprox. 3,500 sq ft and a 12/8, aprox. 4,125 sq ft.
He is shooting himself in the foot. This is where our cost of doing business comes into play with the customer. Often, if you explain the cost of operating such as licensing, insurance, cost of equipment maintenance, phones , etc. you can overcome this.
My best line is " If they are not properly insured and injure themselves or someone else or cause damage, you as the homeowner are responsible".
I have found this approach triggers second thoughts for the homeowner.
"THE BITTERNESS OF POOR QUALITY REMAINS, LONG AFTER THE HAPPINESS OF A CHEAP PRICE"
Love that "SPLASH AND DASH"...............................................WITH THEIR CASH!!!!
Yes...........I too don't understand the low ballers selling the most dangerous service that can be performed on a home for the average cost of a dish washer repair, or the combined cost of pool and yard service for one month????
As many of you know we just re-launched Mallard Systems into the Central Florida (orlando) market after a 2 year absence. Last week we had 20 leads come in. Of those 20 leads we had a poor closing ratio for the week. We closed 11 of them. Our final closed sales for the week were $11,835.00 a slow week for October.
Here is the math....
20 leads, 11 closed, $11,835.00 in business = $1,075.90 average sale.
Yall just need to get your prices up and tell these low ballers to go fly a kite:)
Roof Cleaning is a funny business, kind of like farming. You must make your money when conditions are favorable. Or you will not be able to survive the winters! Over many years, we have seen many low ball roof cleaning companys come and go. They are like fisherman who dont know how to fish. All they do is scare the fish, and ruin the fishing for everyone else. Eventually, they leave, and the fish return.
Low Ballers do not last, good people who do quality work, and charge a fair price for it do.
where these mostly large houses because im getting nowhere near that amount a normal roof cleaning on a 2500sqft house i get $450 another $150 for the housewash and $100 for a 2car driveway but thats only $700 and if a have to ill do it for $600 i will usually get 95% of all jobs quoated but its because ive spent the last teen years in sales and most of my work comes from referel so they allready have an idea on price before i even show up i still compete against bids of $350 and $400 for the same work all the time please tell me if im not on par with my pricing i though i was in the same ballpark as other quallity roof cleaners in the tampa area

If its a shingle roof home at about 2500 feet for a package deal, roof, house, drive, deck about $750.00 seems fair. Bet you could do 2 of those a day???? thats a $1,500.00 day.
We are just south of you AC and in the same area the the ad was from. IF anyone can get above .10/sqft here I'd be amazed. I'm good at selling myself and my services but the mighty dollar has fallen here in Wellington. Oh Wellington isn't all rich people anymore.

10 cents per square foot. I just figured the square foot on a small ranch which is 864 square foot of roof. so your saying that would be 80.00 job? if thats the case let me cancel my equipment order. thats is bad, tell me your wrong.
