I couldn't agree more Andy. Remember, David picked up 5 smooth stones. If you study the bible, you know that David killed other giants--not just Goliath. (2Samuel 21:15-22) Maybe he wanted to be prepared for the others that would come for revenge. I guess the lesson is...we're going to face many giants, but we need to trust that they can ALL be defeated. The economy will rebound sooner or later, but if for some reason it doesn't, God is still in control.
David had 5 smooth stones because Goliath had 4 sons and David was sure they would come out when he killed their father. That was the number of stone needed.
So exactly how after the love is applied do you have to worry about the salt content? do I really need to tell the homeowner that he needs to water his landscaping after every rain from here on out because of the salt?

No bro, it's simple. The salt will be diluted by the first heavy rain. It is only a light rain that will concern you. Especially one that happens the same day. Some people help prevent this by rinsing the bottom 3-5 ft. of the roof edge creating a barrier of clean roof to hold back salt from light rains. There are other reasons for rinsing the bottom 5 ft, such as protecting gutters and plants from dripping solution, but it also helps prevent a light rain from ruining your day.
So Remember, heavy rain means good to go. Light rain can mean trouble, but really isn't a big deal after about 2 days. Keep an eye on your first few jobs, as some customers may not even call you if their plants die. You will get a feel for it rather quickly.
Also if you water the plants enough they will actually stop drinking and the ground will be very wet, so if a light rain comes while the ground is still wet you will also be fine in this situation.

That's good info Chris. I could have screwed up by not knowing that. Gutters would change the situation I assume. I figured every thing got weak on the roof.
Bag the gutter downspouts, leave till it rains! use plastic ties
so the roof cleaner leaves the gutters bagged until it rains then the customer takes the bags off after the rain or before the rain

If you take all of the precautions above, but also BE HONEST and tell them that there might be some brown grass or leaves, but that they will come back in a week or 2, the customer will appreciate you that much more.
NEVER tell a customer "I guarantee no plants will be harmed". You will lose their trust very very quickly.

We tell them everything in life is a compromise. If you don't want any damage to plants guaranteed pressure wash the roof. They then ask if they pressure wash the roof, if it will be clean. We say "Yes, it will be clean, and 1/2 of it will be on the ground"

Is that a Biblical statement or opinion?
