guys i have sourced around 600L of spray wax used by automatic car washes here in australia...am thinking of adding some mildew retardant into the mix and leaving it on metal roofs once i have cleaned them...
have not tested yet but am hoping it gives a 'wet look' to the paint as the wax is SILICON based...
just a few questions...
do any of you guys ever spray a wax or sealant onto tile roofs or do you guys just seal metal roofs...the reason i ask is i am curious to know whether a silicon product could give tile roofs and shine or gloss which could make the customer very happy...anyone tried this??
cheers fellas...ill let you know how much 600L of this silicon based spray wax costs me...theyre sending me the quote today...hopefully it will be very economical as it has very high dilution ratios and automatic car washes wouldnt be using it if it cost them big...

I think it would give it a better look, but in the Sun I think the wax is going to rapidly give up and be back to the way it was,...especially on a hot metal roof. Make sure it's cost effective to add on,...and don't over promise the customer until you see actual results that are time tested.
If you can keep your cost down then you may be able to effectively experiment with your idea and use it to make future sales.
How many roof cleaners are in your part of Australia?

Find a silicon soluble Algaecide, add it to the wax, and NOW you are talking ! Shhhhhhh ....... can't give away all my secrets, LOL
It might give it a very temporary shine, but it won't last. Anything diluted that far down with water won't be effective, the sun and elements will quickly erode it (the shine).

On the other hand, like Chris said, if you find compatible products to add, the wax might help it to stick around longer. Mother nature is harsh, thank goodness, keeps us in business!

Why put more money in mix? My thoughts are people usually don't want to pay more. My job is to get the home clean and mother natures job to dirty it up.

You might be missing the point a little ? There is Money to be made spraying roofs to KEEP them clean, before they get dirty. And, some customers want, and will pay more for a service that has a roof algae application avaliable.
Chris thats exactly where I'm going when I ask what Can I use as a preventor More Money you know what I mean who says we only gotta clean dirty roofs =] =]
