I had the great privilege of working with Brian Friel of The Roof Cleaners llcOxford PA 19363.

AWESOME DUDE!!!!
I live a little over two hours away from Brian so, since he is in no real danger of losing any jobs to me, he agreed to show me the ropes (and hoses and stuff).  In fact, he is such a generous guy, I’d be willing to bet that he’d train his next door neighbor how to do this business.  If for some reason we were ever to run into each other over the next hundred years, I'd certainly bow out gracefully and give Brian the job out of respect.  I may even frolic, or prance away from the job.  I’ll sachet or skip if it helps.

I’ll be honest, I thought that I had a pretty good handle on things until Brian showed me how he does things.  I was surprised at all of the things that needed to be done.  I underestimated quite a few things.
I did TRY to stay out of his way and even lend a hand, however, I was a significant distraction.  I DID in fact, cost him some time/money.  For that, there are not enough words to express my appreciation.

I urge all green-horns to find a guy like Brian (far enough away to be a non-issue but, close enough to drive) and work for FREE.  There is no substitute for experience.

If there were any doubt about Brian's character (I can't imagine that there were any), let me say that he is a real "Boy Scout" - an absolute gem.  He’s NOT perfect though.  I feel that it is my obligation, my duty, to inform the RCIA that Brian is probably too short of stature to be a roof cleaner.  I swear that I read somewhere on this board that in order to become “certified”, one must first be able to see over the steering wheel of one’s truck.

Jeez-o-man Brian, If roof cleaning doesn't work out for ya, perhaps you could find work guarding a bridge or making shoes.  I’ve heard that all the trolls and elves are working with Hobbits these days.  Oh, yea, that reminds me; I may have inadvertently taken your pot of gold.

THANKS BRIAN!!!!  You’re the best!!!!

Thanks Don! It was a pleasure to have you out! I hope that time was helpful for you. I know that doing something like that would have saved me tons of time and aggravation when I started out.

I like to refer to myself as vertically challenged! I actually was offered a small part in Willie Wonka & The Chocolate Factory as an Oompa Loompa, but I wasn't down with the orange makeup aww

Brian

For those of you whom have never had the pleasure of meeting Brian, it should be noted that he is in fact, able to see over his steering wheel and that his vertical jump easily makes up for his 5'7" frame.

As for "apprenticing" with you, it really was a worth while outing for me.  I hope that you get that commercial job that you were talking about.  I'm ready and willing to actually be of some help this time.
