You'll look more professional and end up with better results. You can use simple garden hose for application hose until you can get better set up. I think alot of us here has used garden hose at some point,..it actually works pretty well.

No real need for a wand,...just a simple ball valve and a nozzle is the easiest. I like to get a 45 degree elbow and make a little handle on the ball valve.

So, you thread the garden gun into a 45 deg elbow, to the ball valve, to the 5/8 garden hose? Am I understanding that right?

Don't pay more than $215 for the Fatboy and $116 for the 5/8" x 200' of hose. If you need a tak, it may be best to check Craig's list or get one locally. I have found that the vendors like to rape their customers on shipping tanks. If you need any help, give me a call. Lori

Lori's Right. Dont get screwed on a tank. You might have to shop around but it will be worth it in the long run.

Criag if you need to just go to home depot get you the good year 3/4 hose, two 75 foot hoses, that would give you 150 ft of hose. You do not need a hose reel, just roll up when your done if need be. The 3/4 ball valve, keep it simple but also lori can get you the hose for the same price per foot, keep that in mind from pressure washer products.

Go to the grocery store and buy every jar of applesauce that will fit in your cart. Grind 3 lbs of tylenol and add to applesauce, bring to a boil, stirring vigorously every 5 seconds. Place in freezer for three weeks, then thaw. Place on a large cookie sheet lined with crisco and wait for fermentation to occur. Drain juice and (drum roll please) there you have the formula.

Gotta make sure that people know this is the *REAL* Apple Sauce Apple Cider Hot Sauce LOVE mix right here.  Don't forget to sample the mix at the end -- if it tastes sour and slightly alcoholic, you've made it right.

No problem Craig. Anyone getting into the roof cleaning business in my opinion should get one of these pumps below:

1) At the very least get the 12V Delavan 5850 5gpm pump

2) 12V Delavan FATBOY 7gpm pump

3) For the best possible roof cleaning rig use an Air Diaphragm Kynar pump powered by an air compressor

Thanks fellas. This has been extremely helpful. I've been doing research all weekend! I'm going to try to reschedule this weeks roof cleaning and pull together a basic set up (thank Mike, that's a great overview!).

I was benchmarking my costs against the Fatboy at pressuretek for $1500 (+shipping +tank, etc), and can't pull that together quite yet. But, I couldn't visualize a more basic set up. So, I'll order a pump tomorrow, found 55 gal drums on craigslist for $25, and get hose, etc. Should be ready to roll through the Fall months by next week.

The next order of business will be certification!!

Go to Tractor Supply and buy a$69 to 89 sureflo or Flojet pump that looks good for you.
Get a 6$ plastic tool box and bolt it in the bottom. Buy a cheap motocyce battery. Buy all the connections you need there.
Cut hole on both  sides of box one for intake and one for out.I attach 100' garden hose to the out side flow of the pump and maybe about 8' for the intake side to stick in the bucket. Be sure to weight down the bottom o that hose with a heavy connection to weight it down so she willl sink to the bottom of your bucket.I then attach a Quick  coupler on the end of the delivery hose so I can attach my pressure washer gun while and then go to town on the houses, roof what ever.

Hope this helps

I'm looking for advice on dispensing apple sauce with a pump up sprayer.  I'm still saving for a pump system, so I've got to make due for now with these first few jobs.

I know it will be more time intensive, but can someone help me think through other issues?  I'll have two sprayers with a guy on the ground handing me refills.

Thank you!

You are wasting your time. Buy a $65.00 Delavan pump, 200' of 1/2" ID hose a pvc valve and get  pressure washing quick connects for hose and valve ends along with  tips 25/50 40/40 and make all your money back on the 1st roof. A garden sprayer [I tried it back in the 1980's does not have enough gpm flow to stay wet on the roof, you constantly have dry spots and after your done, it's not a great looking job, like it is with pumps etc.

You don't have to go with the fatboy either. a 2gpm delevan pump runs around $70 and it will be more than sufficient for your first 10 roofs.
After that you can use it as a transfer pump or for a oxalic/percarb wood cleaning tank.

I use pump up sprayers every week for spot cleaning and the occassional touch-up... other than that, it pays to have a decent pump.
