Okay, I would "guess" that a SLATE roof would be cleaned the same way as a tile/asphalt roof. Is there anything that I should know that might cause me trouble?

Slate roofs are actually the easiest of all roofs to clean. They are dark and draw heat. When the chemical hits it flashes and the staining is gone. At least that has been my experience.
Sauce or Cider. I do agree, do NOT attempt to walk on a dirty or wet slate roof. It will soon remind you of your younger years of racing around to slide down the sliding board.
To add a little fun to this, we have a policy in effect for our guys. If you elect to walk a roof, any roof and should happen to fall, always remember "YOU ARE FIRED BEFORE YOU HIT THE GROUND"
What is the pitch? Did you get this roof? How bad is it? Ive walked on a couple, you have to clean a spot at the roof line so you can at least stand up without slipping. Have a rope/harness anchored on the opposite side and throw over to your side. Work your up and over. This is a process that would combine some PWing with the roof to rinse. It aint fun, bid accordingly, and test the integrity of the slate first thing. I weigh 170, if you weigh 370, probably should stay off lol.

I have not YET done a slate roof. I wouldn't want to walk them either. I'm certain that all the slate roofs around here are 50+ years old. I'll probably need to walk one or two in my liftime so, I thank you for your advice. I might just call in sick the day we need to "walk" a slate roof. Of course, I'll have to fire myself again...

Cheese N Crackers! That's a heck of a job there Chris. I've noticed that you have used "lifts" in the past. Do you own your own or do you rent as needed. I'd say that the roof walking is not an issue when you've got a lift.
Have you ever actualy walked on a slate roof?
