Questions regarding using Tarps
Permalink

I am using tarps to cover shrubs and flowers. When I remove the tarps, for safe measure, do I continue to water the areas that were covered as well as the grass around where the tarps were, or will watering cause runoff to be absorbed by the shrubs and flowers. I understand the theory of chemical dilution, but will I be taking the chance of putting diluted chemical on an area that otherwise had no runoff at all. Hopefully this question makes sense. Thanks for any responses.

You should be good if the water is diluted. Most drinking water has chlorine in it. If we can drink it, then the plants wont have a problem.

No, I have a ground man. But, I am always concerned about how much water is enough. I don't want to brown landscaping or grass. How much is enough.

If I bag the gutters, I only have to worry about a little overspray. But, if the house has no gutters, I am always worried about runoff and dripping. Any suggestions?

The only difference is that my city water probably doesn't start out at 40 / 60... or does it? LOL

Thanks for the help....

Don't use dark colored tarps on a sunny day, you will bake the plants. Better to pre wet, rinse during and after. The foliage is what u mainly concerned about burning up. If you rinse the roof though, more chem ends up in the ground...flood the root zones of plants for good measure.

Tarps are time consuming. What ever lands on them goes some where else

I was wondering about that too. If I do not use tarps, and I keep the plants watered, there should be minimal if any damage, Correct?

How about with grass? Is there any more or any less chance of damaging grass?

Also, if the grass browns out, will it come back or is there no chance of it turning green again?

I usually wash any spray or dripping that has landed on the foliage, but do I need to worry about the solution that I wash off of the foliage onto the ground, or will it usually be diluted enough?

I will say. NO. Are you using someone to help you? Sprinklers could help.

If we use tarps, we use white or light blue. We avoid using black, brown and clear.

I use a ground man when I clean a roof. I guess I'm just a little more paranoid than I should be.

I thought it would kill the grass too. But I am thinking that if the amount of runoff and overspray is minimized, then with my groundman watering, I should be okay. I guess when I get a lot of roofs under my belt I will know the best techniques to apply.... Thanks for the help.
