I had a roof sales manager call me the other day and ask me if I would come and spray a half roof because the insurance would only pay for half of the roof to be replaced. This was the first I have heard of this. Has anyone else heard this? It would be good for us to get in good standing with the roofers in our areas if this is true. Or would you guys not do the half roof even in this case?
yeah I just did a roof with similar case and it was wind damage, just did the north and east side, the south and west were NEW and i could not argure his reasoning

Insurance agents are trained to act like your friend and offer you the cheapest solution then make you feel great about it. If that homeowner would have fought for the entire roof to be replaced, it probably would have happend. Here in MD we have independent insurance adjusters that fight to get you the large sum and take a cut. In MD they will tell you that if the entire roof is not replaced, the insurance company can then patch any future problems and never have to replace your whole roof as it is now mismatched. They have to make the entire roof all the same age, color and make if you ever want a chance at a whole roof replacement in the future. Same goes for vinyl, carpet and wall to wall paints. I have seen insurance offer $300 for a hole in someones siding, then the adjusters got her $17,000 instead stating that it can not be mismatched.
