Started a New Roof Cleaning Business

Hello friend!

My name is Mike and I recently started a new roof cleaning busines, Green Goose Roof & Exterior Cleaning LLC, up here in Louisville, KY.  I had a couple questions for you guys since you all have been doing this a lot longer than I have.

First, what type of nozzles do you all use to spray the chemical and spray the water to rinse?  Are they both the same?  Do they connect to the garden hose from the utility pump?  Approximately at what psi is needed to spray the chemical and rinse the roof also?  100 psi?

Also, what is the best method of getting customers for a new business like mine?  Flyer distribution?  Direct mail ads?  Internet advertising?

Thanks you all!  I love the great information you all post on here!

Mike

Welcome Mike. I see you "recently started a new roof cleaning business...". How have you been cleaning thus far? What chems are you using, etc. Familiarize yourself with that search button. It is your best friend.

Hey guys thanks for the replies!  I greatly appreciate all of them.  As for my progress I have cleaned a few roofs thus far.  I've tried using only bleach and water which didn't work very well although I did not have the right set up to rinse.  All I used was a garden hose to rinse the solution off.  I am still experimenting on the roofs of friends and relatives garages so I am not doing any damage to anybody's roof which is good becuase I want to get some experience and know how to clean roofs the right way before I go out and clean roofs for actual customers.

I am still trying to grasp the concept of NO Pressure roof cleaning.  I would like to try the Apple Sauce Cider mix to see how that works on dirty roofs because from what I've read on here it seems to work really well.  I am going to buy a 12 volt Delevan 5850 pump to apply the chemicals and to rinse the solution off.  I wanted to know if the pump will supply enough pressure to reach the peaks of the roof and clean the roof throroughly.  There are a couple roof cleaners up here who spray a non bleach biodegradable solution on the roof and then rinse using a water broom from a pressure washer.  They say it is low pressure however and the same as a garden hose?  I want to learn how to do it the right way!  I do not want to use any pressure washers if possible!  So I guess it's the chemicals that do most of the work correct?  Any help is appreciated friends!  Thanks again and I love this group!

Hi Mike. Your competitors are equally as clueless as mine.

They have NO idea what they are doing.

A water broom is NOT low pressure and requires a pressure washer to operate.  What they are doing is causing more harm than good.

You've come to the right place to learn how to do it right.

You'll have your competitors beat in no time.

It's all here. It will take you a while to read and learn it all but you'll get there.

Welcome to the board!
