Myself i would not go into things like run off etc, just think doing a house with no gutters are you going to catch the run off , doing a house wash , concrete cleaning etc etc are you going to collect the run off ? Pat i think stuff like this will bite you in the ass someday , i think most of us do our best not to cause problems. Not getting a job because we're under bid by someone else will never stop thats the way it is , being known that you do quality work is priceless ! ( my two cents )

Thanks Vinny. Part of the protection from run off consists of directing the water to a landscaped area not necessarily collecting it. Here that is easy to do with a berm and directing it to a lawn off of the drive way.
I don't feel that having an informed customer will bite you. I know that I will be under bid several times in my life and I am ok with that. Just trying to give the home owner something to think about other than just a lower price. Like you all say educating the customer is what we need to do to eliminate hacks. What I stated is true about the CWA in that you can not let run off get to the storm drains at all. It must be collected or diverted to a landscaped area. In this area I don't have to worry about that with house or roof washes because it all goes into landscaped areas. Now on driveways that is a different story but it can be diverted to the lawns.
Even a local cop driving by can stop and fine you for violations and they can fine the property owner also. I appreciate the input. It gives me something to think on.
On the subject of beware of prices. I have always had the opinion that you get what you pay for. We have a couple of presure washers around here that advertise $99.00 house specials. I would like to watch and see what the homeowner gets for $99. On the other side of this A neighbor with about 1800 Sq ft roof had a company clean their roof last fall. The homeowner said that the product they used was a granular product applied with hot water and removed with hot water. They paid $800.00 for this job and the roof has already started to show black streaks. They are very dissatisfied and will probobly ask me to reclean the roof next year. My charge some where around 1/2 of what they paid the first time. So pricing can work both ways.
