So in the middle of the day when the roof is incredibly hot, the cleaner dries pretty quickly. Do I need to continue wetting it down for the entire 45 minute dwell time?

Hello Pat,
Its been my experience that its better to clean roofs in the morning until about 11 am or after 2-3 pm for that very reason.
Its too hot.
Continuing to put more cleaning agent on a HOT roof only costs you more money.
As far as DWELL time goes, are you rinsing? If so then dwell time is important.
If you have not done a roof yet and just let the chemical stay on the roof and be rinsed by Mother Nature then you are not really doing all you can for your customer.
By NOT leaving the cleaning mixture on the roof, i.e. the SH, TSP, Borax, and or Alcohol is not allowed to work as a treatment as well as a cleaning, an important aspect that should occur which allows the roof to stay cleaner, longer.
And by rinsing you are removing the cleaning agents before they have a chance to dry and crystallize on the roof surface, forming a hostile environment for the Gloeocapsa Magma (blue-green algae strain) and other mold, mildew, etc.
When this occurs, the rain only reactivates the chemical binding agents suspended in the crystals of salt and TSP and Borax which continues to keep the roof algae and stain free much longer than removing the treatment to soon after application.
As you know, when it is VERY HOT the roof is like the surface of an oven.
Like butter in a frying pan, the cleaning agent doesn't have time to work properly before it evaporates.
If you have to clean ANY roof DURING these peak sun and heat time frames always be sure to WET down the entire roof surface thoroughly with CLEAR WATER---
DO this BEFORE applying the Apple Sauce mix.
That way you are COOLING off the roof and prepping it to receive the LOVE you are about to give it . LOL
This will save your hard earned money spent on SH, and not have it go up in fumes.
Hope this helps you.
Keep safe with that SEVERE weather you are having up there.
All the Best,
David

Always remember, the more chemical you apply, the greater your chances are of causing plant life corruption. As explained earlier. Do not be afraid to wet the roof surface down with water to reduce the surface temperture. This will allow the chemical to do it's job without continuing to apply which will eventually eat deeply into your profits. Mother nature will do the rest.
On hot days like today it was 105 by noon, we started at 7:00 am, washed two roofs, then took a break until 4:00 pm then knocked out another roof for the day. I also do pressure washing so I will do that in the afternoon for 4 hours also then finish roofs after or do some before.
Make sure you hydrate your body, with gatorade, water, or propel, cramps at the end of the day is really hard when you head out the next day.
