Hey Roof Cleaners,

I  thought I  would see if anyone else has used this approach on promoting their business, Im out here in the foot hills of Missouri and Roof Cleaning is unheard of,sooooo what I did is contacted the editor of our main newspaper in Springfield and asked him about running an editorial on Black Steaks and he aggreed to it as long it does not sound like advertiment, which is great, I am writing this now stating my concerns on what is happing to our roofs in Missouri.. I will keep  everyone posted on the out come. I feel  this will bring some attention to  the publics eye on what is going on with their Roofs and that they dont need to replace them.

Has anyone used this approach?

Glad you posted that. Yesterday I was talking with a local free newspaper about the very same thing. Hopefully they will allow me to run with it. Lots of people read the freebies in my area.

 Yeah freebies are great but I guess I think different, I feel if a person that buys A paper they read the paper. Does that make since?
also the best place to put a ad is on the OBITS page, from what I have studied about marketing..

Yes, I can agree with that. If I spent the money I would definitely be reading everything. I'm not sure what the actual statistics would be comparing the two formats but it would be interesting to find out. I do know that where I am the only major newspaper is in Orlando so it seems to be more beneficial for me to advertise in the local free rags to target more people local to Kissimmee.

Those sound like great ideas to me.

Ive been hoping to get a BIG church roof here in town. If I do I plan to go see our local paper and see if I can get an article in there with a great before and after. I live in a small town. Theres always special interest or history articles front page. I dont see why an article showing folks their roof can be saved couldnt make it too.

That is a great idea. I have run into people that have been downright nasty calling me a scam artist for offering to clean their roofs. People think it's airplane exhaust or asphalt leeching out of the shingle. The things people have told me are crazy. One guy thought his neighbor was throwing acid on his roof at night. Education is REALLY needed in my area. This may be a way to start that process. Thanks for the idea.

Im with you on being looked at as a con artist lol Some people beleive and some wouldnt beleive it was raining if the water was up to there ears.

A few saturdays ago I was out in a really nice neighborhood handing out cards and TRYING to do demos But I kept on getting crazy looks. Like Your nuts you just want my money!

One guy told me... Seriously... Ill just replace it everyone else around here has!

I replied with your new roof will prob cost 20k and I can clean it for a fraction off that. blah blah no reason to replace a ten year old roof....

He sais I have a bid to replace it for 18k ill just do that everyone else is!

Some people dont believe, some do and cant afford it(or a new roof), some think im nuts, some dont care,......

This guy just has too much money to care

I did this. We had a paper approch us about their business section and they wrote an article about us. It was free and produced a few calls. Good thinking approching them and good luck !!
