I have started a Refer-A-Friend program. I had cards made that have 10% off for any new customer. If you refer that person to me you recieve 15% off you next purchase. Its worked out pretty good for me. Definitely got some work from it.
I have put out TONS of refferal promises, yet to land one job that way. The way I`m getting my roofs are by talking directly to people & my rolling billboard on my van. My Flyers have played a major role. I use them like an American Express Card. I won`t leave home with out them. Kipp
I started a referral program last year along with a group discount program. Once I secure a customer, If that customer can get other people in his area to also have their roof cleaned while I am in that area, I will give both customers 10% off. If a customer referrs someone at a leter time and I get the job, I send them a $25. Home Depot gift card. I figure if they are concerned about the appearance of their home, they would appreciate the gift card.

I have repeat customers that refer me to new ones in the same neighbor hood, I usually remember them when they want something done again. I just did that with a gentlemen that I cleaned his house 3 years ago, he wanted his roof cleaned and house done this time around plus I got 8 pressure wash jobs and 4 roof cleaning jobs in that neighbor hood so I gave him a 10% discount on his work but everyone else got the same price for the work they wanted.
We haven't experimented with the bird dog program with residents yet. One thing that I have found successful is the cloverleaf approach. When we are performing a service we tag the doors to the left, right and center across the street. The other thing is we have dropped of flyers to real estate offices. We offer a professional courtesy rate. In most cases it amounts to .01 cents per square foot. We've get a pretty good amount of work from this.
