Hey guys i've been reading the rcia for a while now have learned alot and want to thank everyboby for the help. I would be cleaning roofs with surface cleaners and low pressure if i didn't find this web site so thank you everybody. That being said i've done several roof now and i feel like im doing something wrong ,i think i am using way to much chemical to clean a roof just did two barrel tile roofs. Houses were 2800sqft plus 3car garage with a prety steep pitch i charged $500 for each roof but i went through 300 gallons of apple cider each roof was very black and took 3 coats to come clean ,the chemical was drying ten minutes after hiting the roof. Is this to much chemical for two dirty roofs or normal

The "problem" is the NP 9 surfactant I think, OR weak SHC. ONLY use NP 9 if you HAVE to ? It will RUIN your mix in a NY Second if not used correctly.
i start with the water then add the tsp and np9 i mix the tsp in a 5gal bucket of hot water before adding it then i add the SH last about 30 min before i get to the jod i always getting a good browning effact when it hits the roof so i figured it was working but it dries in 5 min or less i live in pasco county and was working in palm harbor it was a very hot day friday i thought maby it was drying to fast should i use apple souce instead of apple cider

Sounds like you have stale SH . To test your SH pour some between your fingers if it turns white right away & as you rub it,it gets slimmy like glue you got some great stuff. This test takes about 10 secs.
what should be the amount of chemical used to clean 5000 sqft of barrel tile for the average home im just trying to figure out if im using to much i've done several shingle roof but these tile roofs seem to use so much more just trying to see if this is normal hoping someone can help

What ever mix you are using Dwell Time is important. SHC has about a two hour kill ratio. After that it reverts back to its natural state... Salt Water...
Just maybe instead of all that other stuff you add to your solution, mix in smaller quantities at 1 to1 on roofs. (SHC and water)... 5gal of SHC to 5 gal water.
I usually make a 30 gal batch at a time... Really and in between I can take a bonified smoke break while adding 15 gal of water to the 15 gal of SHC.
two hours would be nice but with temps in the 90s rite now it can be tough to keep it wet for 10 min i tried weting the roof with water first like someone sugested earlier but it didn't make a difrence is there anything i can add to help keep it wet a little longer or so it has more time to dwell

Usually the addition of basic dish soap will aid in staying wet longer. But, you're easiest solution is to simply start earlier in the day.

I was wondering if starting when there is dew on the roof helped or hurt the process.
We normally try to wait until the dew burns off. Most all of the Tile Roof Cleaning we do is done from the top. ( we walk them) These can be a bit slippery when covered in morning dew. The moisture will also prevent the Roof Cleaning mix from doing its job as well and more material will more than likely be needed verses applying it to a dry Tile Roof. Shingle Roofs don't seem to be so much of a problem as Tile Roofs.
Again, you either got some old/weak SHC and the NP 9 is KILLING your mix !! I gallon NP 9 is enough for 300 gallons mix ! You are using 1 gallon per 100 gallons mix! WAY too much.
thanks guys just did another roof this morning and i used alot less love to do it maby half i got a different batch of SH and used less than a quart of np-9 plus started at 8:00 am before the roof get to hot came out great first try just took a few touchup spots thanks for all the help just got a sample of the florachem today and used it on a house wash one ounce coverd the smell of three gallons of SH this is great stuff will be ordering some tomorrow a guy stood ten feet from me the hole time and it didn't even bother him he said it smelt like candy and made the remark that last time he had it done it stunk like bleach all day he didn't even know i was using SH that florichem is impressive stuff

Great! What fragrance did you get from Florachem ??
Ok, maybe I missed something here! What is this fragrance stuff and who is Florachem ?? This stuff really works? I would be interested in this stuff. I am CONSTANTLY getting customers that say WHEW especially during and after a Roof Cleaning.
