Harbor Freight has a new air compressor with a 6.5 horse chinese motor and dual 4.5 gallon air tanks. I was quoted 399.95 for it plus 79.95 for a 2 year STORE REPLACEMENT warranty ! I was told if ANYTHING failed to simple bring it back and get a NEW one !!!
I have used the OLD version of this compressor but with a 5.5 hp motor. This new one has a bigger motor and appears better built ?
Dont care for the chinese motors - cant get parts but with w 2 year no questions asked instant replacement who cares ?

Hello Chris,
Care to provide a link to this?
I have looked all over the Harbor Freight site but the only one I find is the $499.000 model of what you are describing?
Is there a SPECIAL price I am missing?

I went in Harbor today and there was a 499 price tag on it. But when I asked for a quote by the SKU number it rang up 399 !!! Maybe I shouda got while the getting was good ??
This compressor is on sale til the 20th of may and is an in store only price. If you go to the store and they do not have it get a rain check for the price. Its a good compressor for the money.
Guys, Can you clear this up for me?..... as a starter package, it was recommended to get a Delavan 12 volt pump running off a deep cycle marine battery with at least 600 amps.
I currently have a a chemical mixing diaphram pump from Lafferty Equipment that is fed off an electric air compressor at 60 psi.
I guess I'm trying to figure out what you need the Delavan pump vs the air compressor, or do you need both? If I could save some $$ with what i already have, that would be great. thanks.

I use the FatBoy. I do not have a back up yet. The only way to know if your pump will work is to test it. See what it will do with a 200' hose on it. You should not need both unless you got the $$$$. A FATBOY would be a less expensive back up
It sounds to good to be true I dont want to be a tool snob but I only buy stuff there that i will use once in a while I had AIr die grinder crack in half twice the male air adapter were cast right on the tool no threading , but that sound like a deal
I bought a Chinese go gart for my kids and it was a disaster. The metal is sub-par and everything rusts. The metal was crumbly and the welds broke the tubing off in the welds. The bolts are low quality and they rust and the nuts rattle loose. The motor had an electrical drain that ate my batteries. The "warranty" did not cover all my problems. I paid $350 for a new wiring harness and sold the sucker for half what I paid for it. The air compressor is the heartbeat of your spraying rig. No warranty will cover the frustration of your 50th pull with no start. Buy a good used compressor. I had an old Speedaire once that must have been 40 years old. It ran for years with me and I sold it for more than I paid for it when I moved. Never even put oil in it.
Oh yeah, I also bought a harbor freight framing nailer that looked just like a Stanley Bostitch. The first day I used it the SOB double fired a 16D nail. The second false fire shot that nail right through my left hand. So much for the $120 I saved on the nailer.
I've bought many tools from Harbor with no problems, their pittsburg tools have a great warranty. No problem here. I also bought a 3/4 inch impact for 1/3 of the price any where else and it is great. I have had it for two years no probllem.

Simply buy the extended warranty, and if it fails, take it back for a new one ? The recoils go out on these chinese motors, so have some in stock. My cousin is using a three year old Harbor Frieght air compressor, only problems were recoils going out every 6 months, rope breaking, etc, and belts go bad on any compressor. TRY and use Gates Belts ??
Hi Mike. I actually saw this unit up close at a Harbor Frieght in DE. The compressor housing had casting excess all over it from old worn out molds, but other than that it looked pretty solid... Had a large air input filter, and electric key ignition. They had an open box floor model for aroun d $875.
the one i purchased there has drain problems. Every time i drain it i am always replacing the drains i bought the 2 year warranty but i dont think they will give me a new one. oh and the bar for the wheel in front broke off as soon as i put the wheel on. I think this thing is a P.O.S. in my opinion.

Did you purchase the big one in this thread ? The old smaller ones did have some problems, but they have a new line of compressors now, I would demand a new one ?
