Hello fellow roof cleaners, want to let you know about val pak. If you do not know what it is it is a pak of discount vouchers sent out to residents in the mail. Anyways, wanted to let you know don't waste your money. We like to try everything we can for advertising and we sent out to 40 thousand residents in charlotte and wilmington. ZERO calls on that. was a total waste of money, by the way its 875 per 40 grand. we will not be using those anymore and will stick to what we are running that is producing calls. So take it from us they don't work and are a waste of money. Hope I wil save someone time and money by posting this. You can run one tv commercial for 10 bucks on cbs and will probably get at least one call off that ten bucks.
Hi James, your local cable provider can hook you up with the tv ad info, they usally run $10-$30 per run depending on the channell. Comcast wanted about $1k to make an ad for me, but you can film your own as well.

Holy moly, a grand just to put it together? Your local stations all have there own production department, they will make your shots from 250-400 and sometimes free depending on the amount of spots you run. Never pay more than that for a production, and unless you are a film student or something like that, don't try to put your own commercial out. Thats what they do so let'em do it. Just my opinion from experience with this particular situation.
Yeah, I got some friends that could film mine from film school. Granted these prices were in Washington DC, were everything is very high. Billboards start at $17k per month lol. In Baltimore they start at $8k 2yrs. ago. I always wanted to get a tv ad out and havn't so far. I bet it works well for you?? Since you did a new one recently?
Used Value Pak many years ago with poor results. This Tuesday May 19th I am attending a seminar sponsored by the local fox TV affiliate here in Richmond VA promoting thier angle for Radio & TV advertising. I will follow up this post with any constructive ideas or infomation they provide.

We once ran a value pak and it hit over 10,000 houses....
Guess how many calls I got, just one, it was a total waste of money and I will never use that form of advertising again. I will stick with the phone calls and flyers lol Hope that helps for my fello cleaners
I ran one and it went to almost 20,000 with maybe 3 calls. It may be good for some services in certain markets but I just dont think its that effective for what I/we do.
Mike, I used them this year. I signed for 4 months. I paid $800.00/month for 30,000 people. I always covered the cost. 2 months I did well with them. I canceled after the third month because I wanted to allocate the $800.00 differently, but as it turns out, the 4th month was the best month. I got 12 calls from it and sold 8 jobs. If I had those results before I canceled, I may not have canceled it. I certainly didn't lose money. All areas are different thought.

We have used Val Pak for my Handyman business and it was not effective at all. Stop at a group of cluster mailboxes in a large development and look in the trash barrel and you will see that most of them don't even make it to the house.

I've never used Val Pak but I'm sure there are much more effective ways to spend that kind of money. However, any advertising medium can be effective IF you have the right message.

INSIST on a proof of mailing! Val Pak don't play games, but these small coupon books known for inflating mailing figures! One month, they really DO mail out 50,000 books, to give you a taste, then they simply don't mail near as many out the following months, but still take your money. Beware!

Dan you seem to be really doing great!! Would you like to share a pic of your flyer?
I tried val pak a couple years back running a maid/house cleaning service. Very bad ROI in this area. Sounds like it just depends on where you are and what and how you offer it. So far I've had the best luck with tossing postcards and a magnet in a plastic bag. Here's the secrete....Put your sign up at the entrance of that neighborhood a couple of days afterwards. You should get a least a call per day. I've been in one neighborhood for the last two weeks working. The sign really helped!! Oh and I probably only tossed to about 75 homes in that neighborhood. The cost was about $16 and the return has been close to $2500. Less than a penny on the dollar. Hope this helps!
