I do not want to argue with the pros they are correct in most everything they have to share. I just wanted to tell all of you that I was able to get 1.5 months out of my first barrel of bleach by storing in my shop. It seems that if it is kept out of the sun it will last longer?? I want to keep it on my truck but do not have a large enough one yet and do not clean enough roofs to need an entire barrel on me at all times. The SH seems almost as strong as the day I got it. It is 12.5% by weight 15% by volume. I am not sure what the difference is in these two measurements and would love to hear some more imput on this subject. I pay a liitle more than most for my barrel. $228, and a $50 deposit for the drum. I got my deposit covered as they do not recharge me for the deposit if they get to pick the old one up when dropping a new one. The good thing about it is I get free delivery from almost an hour away from me, and it always comes 2 days befor they say it will. Unfortunettly I have not been able to meet the driver and have him drop it next to my shop instead of infront of my driveway, lol. So I have to move it after it comes. My barrel weighs 550lbs full.
My new barrel seems even stronger, the SH ate one of my rags into bits in a matter of seconds and was exremlly hot to the touch. I tried to verify that it was not stronger than they beleived, unfortunettly my distributer seems to have very little knowledge on the materials they carry. The company is called Intercoastal Trading Inc.

Generally the rule of thumb seems to be that it lasts about 30 days before it start to quickly degrade. It is caused by oxygen and sunlight causing it to turn back into salt and water....Sh is made from Salt and water that goes through an electrillosis process to create SH. Yes I would only buy what you will use in a month or so... unfurtunettly that usually means paying a higher price per gallon from most distributers. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. On the back of a flatbed your container will be exposed to alot of sunlight. The labeling on your first order should aslo state this same information.

If I had my take on the back of a truck, I would paint it black....except for the area that shows the " gallon, or Level " of fluid. This way the sun wouldn't get it....Or even a tarp..........
I only wash about 2 houses a month should I only buy the amount i need to wash what ever i can in a month.????
Washing houses or do you mean roofs? If you mean house washing you will be just about as far ahead to buy store bleach. Store bleach will work fine for house washing. But if you mean roofs, then I'd buy the barrel and keep it from UV exposure if possible.
Wow Mike , Is the price that high to justify a min order? I pay $137 delivered for a 55 gallon drum. My guy has a $300 min on an order and makes weekly drops. He will however allow me to piggyback my order with another Contractor in my area when I don't need a total of $300 worth of chems at a time. Helps out in the spring and fall when business is slower. I really push a house wash as a discounted add on the my roof cleaning. I try to maintain no more than 2 to 3 weeks of bleach at a time to keep it from breaking down on me. Hope this idea helps.

How do you know how strong it is? Is there a way to measure the percentage?
