I recently cleaned a roof using the apple sauce mix and i let it dwell for a half an hour then i rinsed it off. when i was done the next day it had a yellow tint to the roof. The roof is a lite white shingle color. Has anyone else come across this problem and if you have what can be done to fix this.
That yellow hue is most likely left over product and dead "black stuff". A few rains and it should be fine. Roofs always come together a little better after a few rainfalls.
What was your rinsing method and how long did it take you to rinse?
It's hard to rinse as good as rainfall. Even a seemingly thorough rinse job will look good,...it will most like brighten up even more after a few rains,...especially these light gray roofs.

Keep an eye on it and see how it turns out. It should be fine. But if not let us know,...there is a trick that I've done in the past to help remove some stubborn yellowing of the shingles. Only ever had to do it a couple times and it worked. I think it was more the shingles and the manufacturer in these couple cases.
scott, Yes. This was my first roof ever. I know not to use pressure and thats why i did not use a nozzle when i rinsed. Thanks for the compliment on the roof. I am also looking for better equipment to use, I have a 40 gallon spot sprayer. 3.6gpm at 60psi but i dont think it is stron enough. it is 12volt system.
You'll know when it's time to upgrade Mike. If the pump style you're using now is getting it done for you,.. stick with it. Then after reading through the all the pros and cons on the various pumps you will be able to make an informed decision for an upgrade.
Alot of guys went years and years using a 1.6gpm shurflo and cleaned hundreds of roofs with it. Sure, using a higher flow pump will speed up your process, but the one you are using now will work perfect.
My advice is to NOT spend a ton of money until you have the volume to need the extra speed. Save your money for advertising.
GREAT job on your New Jersey No Pressure Roof Cleaning!!!
