Hi Eric, I ran a commercial a couple of years ago. That is a better deal than I got, but I personally think the money is better spent in other forms of advertising. What else are you doing to promote your service? Commercials are more of a branding and legitimacy tool as far as I'm concerned. It will probably be cost effective at the price though. I guess after reading my own post I look wishy washy on the subject,..Ha,Ha...
Difference being I didn't get as good as deal as you.
Takes repetitiveness to make good advertising, so if it works out the first month then the second and so on should be better.
15 sec is not enough time to get out a message about somthing new in you area. We just finished filming our new commercial and should get the proof tommorrow. the commercial is a minute long. 600 for 700 spots sounds good, but if not properly placed and not on the right channel, your cost per rating points are not really good or really worth it. therefor youd be better off sending out 50000 mailers for 600 amonth and if you even get one decent roof off those, wich is pretty much guaranteed, you get all your investment back.
Hi Jeff,as of right now I have a sign on my trailer 4 foot x 5 foot.I have been getting work from it.The big thing about it is that it has before and after pics on it and in big words has low pressure application!!!!!!!.Which everyone asks about. And tells me that is what pulled them in.Besides that I get out there and give flyers to people and have been getting roofs from them.Just looking for a better way to get it out there. Thanks for you info

Eric, as stated earlier in this thread, 15 seconds is not enough time to relay and impress your message. 30 seconds or longer would be better suited for what you are doing. Whatever you decide to do, make sure it is cost effective. For that rate, I would ask about doubling the length of time to 30 seconds, and cutting the spots in half to 350 spots per month, all for the same price.
Do you have your demographics down yet, or have you gotten that far? If not, call me anytime. I'd be happy to help you out with your target demographic numbers.
Hi Kevin,I have been thinking about it for awhile.I just dont have the nice picture that I think would grab people.I know I am going to need the higher inpact picture. They do have a 30 second spot, but I do not have pricing on that yet I will have it in the moring.I just wanted everyones info before I started to try to get it all up and running. Thanks for you input.

Look eric, the commercial is not for you to tell people how you do roofs or what a low pressure cleaning is. you can do that with flyers. when doing a commercial people tend to try to just get there name out there, which is good but not what a commercial should be used for. When you think of your commercial, think of what you can do to make those people wright your # down and call right then. nobody remembers who the company is once the commercial is over and there show starts. We have this part time roof cleaner called roof revive that has tried a commercial already before spring, and people still keep calling us and saying they saw our commercial. well guess what ours doesn't run till next week so i know they are calling us because they saw the commercial and when they finally thought of it the only name they could remeber was Roof Rejuvenators. Plus the commercial was horrible do to the fact that the tv station and there film quality sucks. we used them before and will never again. We have spent so much time and money in print a spreading the word and have so many satisfied customers that they just know who we are. so when your doing your commercial figure out what you can do or say or give away only if they call in the next how ever many minutes.
That price sounds good brother. The numbers will show that internet ads are #1 these days. Tv and print are a dying breed. I spent $2500 a month last year on print for 4 phone calls in 4 months in 16 publications. That said, I have found that many marketing plans need a good test before you can really asses them. Give it a try and in 3 months if it's no good than only lost $1,800. Definitely do not judge it in the first month, most ad campaign take a little time to sink in to the customers, and after they have seen you a few times they will call. Also sometimes they call a month after they saw your ad.
Mail flyers have worked for many contract cleaners many times over and seem to be a great way to get the word out. Also door to door sales work but take a certain patience most people do not have. If you only have 1 or 2 local papers run 1 ad in the more popular one. The internet has a million and 1 ways to run ads from ad click campaigns to free classifieds like craigslist.com I also use pull tab bulletins we print ourselves, find a nice area full of grocery stores and gas stations, form a route and hang cut pull tab bulletins in these stores 1x per month.
Well thanks to everyone for your input.I really enjoy reading what everyone has to say,I will take it all in.I am really looking for a way to just let people know that your roof can be cleaned with low pressure,Because we have a guy in the area that is out going door to door say that he can and will clean the roof with a power washer with no harm done to the roof. With that being said it makes it harder for me to get the sell.Although everyone that has called me about roof cleaning has had their roof cleaned and was really happy with it.And thank me for not using a power washer. It really does run people off!!!!!
Thanks so much.

Eric, tell customers you use NO pressure whatsoever, chemicals only.
I have to compete against hacks like you do who say they are using low pressure and call it safe damage free roof cleaning and every time they are blasting away half the roof's granules with a power washer voiding the warranty.
They all swear up and down they are certified, licensed, insured, and have been cleaning roofs for years with no damage, when in fact they are causing more harm then good, with their "Low pressure" sales pitch.
Yes - They LIE They will tell your customers they did 50 OTHER roofs in the area. But guess what ? Those roofs are Compromised! It just takes time for the damage to finally show up!
Yes you are right they say that they have been doing this for so many years and that it is the only way to clean a roof and keep it clean,It is just making it harder for me to get the work but after we show them ,they are shocked and they all say it didnt take you as long as other guy that used the power washer,I know it will take some time to get the word out there,
That is why i wanted to put an add out there just letting people know that we will not be using a power washer, and what the good sides of clean the roof are!!!!!!!!

I,ve been letting people know that I am working on my certification through RCIA, which consists of the most experienced, professional, knowledged,ARMA approved roof cleaners in the world !! Warn Home Owners of the many improper methods that others are using. Definetly builds their confidence in you.I was actually surfing the internet this morning on roof cleaning sites, many rinsing with pressure washer wands, 4head at 600 PSI per head and claiming no damage to roof. Learn from the best so we can bury the rest!!
theres a company out here called roof revive that uses one of those roller with 3 or 4 nozzles things. Its like vacuuming a roof. when ever a customer says they got a lower estimate from them we show them an actual photo from there website that we keep and explain to them what there really doing.
yea they do all say well you are higher than that other guy but but i like that you will not be using a power washer, and that is a good idea about showing them how they will be cleaning the roof with a power washer, Thanks
