Might sound silly, but I have started using these. I bend them in a U shape, attached to the gutter and they catch all the runoff. Or I can attached 2-3 and divert to a safe area. This is waaaaaay faster than bagging and you have more options.

That's a good idea Scott. How do you remove these without the spent love spilling out?

It doesn't at all Scott.  I've used this flex drain pipe because I had a bunch laying around to do the same thing.  It's a ton faster, just depends on the HO's layout but I agree 100% http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Materials-Plumbing-Pipe-Fittings-Drainage-Pipe-Fittings/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xh8Zbbiw/R-100537518/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 aww

Pretty creative ideas.
I see more and more gutters that are routed underground.  Where oh where do the go?!!!!?  In cases like these, I've gotta take the gutters apart.  Unfortunately, this can be tough and rather time consuming.  In many cases, it seems that it's easier to take the downspout apart closer to the gutter (up at the elbows).
I was "dreaming" of a 4" collapsible + flexible tube that is light enough to secure to the spout from 10 or more feet up.  It would remain basically flat untill fluid is passed through it.   Picture the folded-up hose on the back of a fire truck.  I swear that I've seen something like this somewhere.  This could also replace that bulky corregated pipe.  This could also replace that bulky corregated pipe.

Any thoughts fellas?

I have been taking the elbow off of the outlet at the gutter (usually 1 or 2 screws) then I attach the plastic corrugated pipe right to the gutter outlet with a screw, then place the corrugated pipe into a five gallon bucket. This seems to be working pretty good for me and takes 2 minutes. I put a lid on the bucket and load it in the trailer.

Thanks (neighbor) Barry.  That pipe isn't terribly heavy I guess but man, is it a pain in the #@*! to carry around!  Unless someone else can come up with something better, I'd say that you've got the most viable solution to date.  I'll be honest though, I expect that one of these guys will come up with something that will all but eliminate the working part of going to work.  In other words.... in a couple of weeks somebody is going to create a gadget that will require little more than a wink and a smile to capture the "LOVE"....  That is after all how my kids came to be - a wink and a smile ;)

This smells of a challenge.  Hmmmm.....

I use a small pump hook to a garden hose to transport the stuff out of the bags to where ever.

I'm a fan of re-using anything that SH has not eaten. Duct tape has to be thrown out - we use the same ties for our ladders as for gutter bags. Those heavy duty bags we use on the gutters can be re-used, they just need to be rinsed out.

Side Note: We've even had one client that was so concerned about the local wildlife, she flushed out every pothole and puddle surround her house for a few hours or more! We also flushed out her gutters before and after in case her 'pet' chimpmunk was lurking somewhere. I even suggested she put up some fine screen at the bottom of her spouts to prevent the little guy from climbing into it. I figured that was good thinking on my toes as she was just about to refuse the service she had requested!

Here we go boyz!  I think I got it!!!  ......... 3" PVC LAYFLAT DISCHARGE HOSE ....  For those of us that are looking to collect and/or re-use the love, try searching for PVC Discharge hose.  I have NOT used it yet but, I'm gonna try it ASAP.  Unless of course, someone here can tell me that they've tried it and it doesn't work.

Just to be clear, I plan to use this stuff in cases where the bottom part of the gutter is burried and disonnecting the "high" elbows is the easier choice.  I just hope that it's not too heavy.

Hell, why not hook up a pump and filter and pull it back to the mix tank, lol

Talk about enviromentally friendly roof cleaning!

We use velcro straps that are around 3" wide. They sell them at Home Depot they're cheap, quick and they last.

Have any of you bagged the gutters with duct tape then when you take the tape off pulled paint off the gutters?

Just go to home D or Lows and get the gutter spray paint. They sell it in almond, brown and white. Works everytime. Its an exact match. no problems. I've been using it for gutters for years.

Everyone has to find what is easiest for them, but we use zip ties and 3mil contractor bags.

Our bagging process takes no more than 5 minutes when we get to the job. It works for us. We have a system down with bagging and removal that is smooth and usually problem free.

Has anyone use 4" flexible piping connected to downspout and ran it to curb or to concrete slab than flushed out pipe and rinse down solution after cleaning roof ? I have read that some dump there run off at the street side. Many of the jobs I've been looking at are only 30-40' from curb side.

Do not ever get caught running used SH out to the street.  That is against the "Clean Water Act".  In Houston TX you can get a fine for first offense that will put you out of business and in the poor house...

Has anyone tried plugging the gutters from above and pumping it straight from the gutters to a tank or bucket? I haven't, but I'm trying to think of efficient ways of dealing with this.

Regulations concerning runoff into storm water drains here are very strict; both for the city of Eugene and at the state level. In Eugene even water only pressure wash is not allowed to hit drains.

The idea is to not have any runoff, but if you have to coat a house a few times it is inevitable.

The least involved way is to bag and you are done.

You could grab a large bucket and flow it straight into that and then pump that out but honestly what a hassle to run all of those lines through the gardens and all.

Whatever is the safest most efficient way is what works for you.

There are far bigger problems in this business to conquer than not wanting to carry a trashbag full of love.
