Wouldn't the rain reactivate the solution slightly?

James brought this subject up with me on the phone and I wanted to share our conversation.

Chris has mentioned to me and I have had experience with this as well as James has too, about rain washing the chemicals down the gutters shortly after a recent roof cleaning and causing damage.

Dilution is the solution. As long as your ground man is adequately rinsing landscaping and bagging gutters there should not be a problem.

To adequately rinse means not just spraying the overspray off the tops of the plants.

Take the nozzle off the end of the hose and run open water flow directly underneath the downspout to saturate plants near it.

Plants are not pigs like people are, and only consume water they need.

After the plants drink the water you have given them they will not be thirsty and if the rain washes fresh chemical down the gutters they will not drink the chemical because they should be satisfied from the water.

I know we talk about this before.  but, I'm  still having problems with mold, since it doesn't come off right away. I just did a job and home owner wasn't happy at all bacause  he wanted to see the roof clean right away he asked me if rinsing it will come off Isaid no, ( lots of landscapeand gutter guards ar not alowing gutters to catch any water and don;t want to kill landscape)and then he said I got a pressure washer in the garage if you want to use it, what do you do with customers like that?

I think that is a very powerful statement Brian. It lets the H\O know that you have a stake in "his" project, your not just there after the money.
Do you ever tell them that you will postpone collecting the payment for a week or two?

Mike is right.

Unfortunately, some people will become very difficult to get money from if you do not collect it as soon as the job is done. The are not intentionally trying not to pay you, but they don't seem to make it a priority either.

I always discuss payment methods when I am scheduling the job. If they are not going to be home, I make them leave a check for me or give me the credit card numbers over the phone.

Confidence in your actions and words will often be enough to ease any hesitation the customer may have. Don't give them any reason to doubt what you are saying and they usually won't doubt it.

Don't be overbearing about it. Just try to come accross as educated about your business and genuine in your customer interaction.

1. Called BOB at Pressure tek - got the 12v fatboy setup- complete with hoses, reels, wands. On its way tomorrow
2. Ordered a 100 gallon poly tank from tank depot. (will expand if all goes well)
3. Contacted a chemical supplier for Sodium Hypochlorite -(how much should this cost/gallon?) they said like $2.00 a gallon. I can get 55 gallon drums.
4. Going to get deep cycle battery and boxes at local boat store.
5. Sharing my excitement with everyone now.

1. Quick Questions: To rinse or not to rinse seems split - does it look just as good without rinsing? How long to let dwell?

IF you rinse, gotta let it dwell for an hour to be sure all spores die.
IF you rinse, rinse real good, one side of home at a time, and keep flushing plants as the chemical drips off.
Then, BEFORE you go to the other side, rinse the root beds of the plants/grass by FLOODING those areas.
You MUST rinse the chemical BELOW the root line.
It takes MUCH longer to rinse a roof properly then it does to clean it.
Improper rinsing will KILL plants for sure.
Take your time, IF you are going to rinse.

If it takes 40 gallons to clean the roof and you want to rinse it, expect to use 400 gallons of water to rinse it!

You will spend at the very least the same amount of time rinsing and watering as you did setting up and spraying the roof. But more likely 50% more time.

I rinse the lower 1/3 of roofs without gutters, especially if they're tile.
Other than that, no rinsing unless the customer pays for it.
I charge the same price to rinse that I charge to clean!
