Hello Tropo,

I use these occasionally but mostly shoot from the ground or from a ladder  or lift when possible.

When having to walk a roof they (the Cougar Paws) do help and provide a comfortable boot to walk in.

Performance wise- they stick well. However nothing can prevent slipping when the granuals are loose on the surface (older roofs mailnly).

For the most part these are more specifically designed for roofers and estimators where there is no aggressive chemical to content with.

To answer your question, they hold up pretty well against SH as long as your not constntly dousing your boots DIRECTLY in It, they will stain and eventually degrade however.

I would like to think I extended the life of my boots by using 2 cans of 3M Water Repellent with Scotchguard. It seemed to help a great deal on making them more liquidproof. I soaked em' several times when I first bought them, letting the product dry between coats of the 3M.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Awhile back I started a POLL on another forum and got about as detailed a group of answers as you are going to get on the subject of Roof Boots.

(As I have mentioned in other threads "The Truth is Out There" just USE the ALMIGHTY SEARCH FEATURE- The SEARCH button is your friend biggrin)

Here is the DIRECT link to the thread

Hope this helps you and others.

Have a Great Day!

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY AND I DO USE THE SEARCH BEFORE I ASK ANY QUESTIONS AND NOTHING CAME UP ON ROOFING BOOTS. ( SOMETIMES ASKING A REPEATED QUESTION GETS NEW ANSWERS)

You are certainly welcome, TROPO

I am GLAD you use the power of the SEARCH feature. Sometimes nothing does come up as you mentioned, as I and am sure others have encountered the same thing while seeking out answers. And, you are also valid in suggesting that asking a repeated question DOES at times bring new or updated thoughts on the subject in question. Glad to get to know you and your way of thinking, TROPO. Thanks for joining the RCIA.

Have a Nice Day, David

I have a pair of "O'Bryan Paws". that would be a $50 dollar pair of Adidas cross trainers that seem to grip better than my old Nike Shox.

I have had good luck with Wolverine boots I buy at Walmart. Comfortable, waterproof and not too expensive.
