Does anyone know if TSP has surfactants in it, or is it just a degreaser/cleaner? I am hearing from most that Sodium Hypochlorite is the best way to clean a roof, however I also read different chemicals such as Sodium Hydroxide is decent as well. I know that you guys have a lot of knowledge on this so I am asking the PRO'S! Thanks in advance, John
TSP is a powerful cleaner, and an emulsifier. It and SHC together are what is suggested by ARMA for cleaning roofs. See the Aple Sauce and Apple Cider threads here.
Some of our roof cleaning friends up north use a hot water prressure washer to warm cold roofs up with first. You add 20 percent extra sodium hypochlorite to your mix to compensate for the warm water already on the roof. I have heard of roof cleaning companies cleaning this way in cold, but not freezing weather.
