After a recent discussion with Chris from Apple and much soul searching as to finding the right words to express my feelings as it relates to our choosing the "RIGHT" new logo for our niche market "ROOF CLEANING" certification program here are some of my thoughts.
My feeling is that the 4th and 5th Logos from the Left upper first row of Stan Andrews designs portray the image we, as a professional CREDENTIALED training and educational certification program should be promoting.
Image is EVERYTHING and you NEVER get a SECOND CHANCE to make a FIRST impression.
In my opinion, the wrong image out of the gate could have a serious consequence down the road of not being taken seriously enough.
The image (LOGO) we set as our standard needs to portray our "singleness of purpose"
The purpose of the credential is to portray PROFESSIONALISM and a detailed knowledge base and skill set, and further, it means that the company displaying this RCIA logo on their website is up to the "task of SAFELY cleaning roofs of various pitches and substrates in a variety of circumstances effectively and the company (and its employees) representing this LOGO have passed a test of industry standards that can be measured and duplicated"
The logo of the "fumigation man" looks like we are applying "hazardous waste" to the roof surface and looks as though he is pressure washing the roof and therefore detracts from the CLEAR message I believe RCIA is attempting to portray.
RCIA's LOGO should be one of CLEAR, single mindedness of purpose, (EDUCATIONAL LEARNING INSTITUTION) without the unnecessary hype of conflicting images or graphics).
I would appreciate any comments responding to this post so we can now begin as a group to distill and filter down to our final choice of logo.
The two images Dave spoke of seem to be the two top picks so far. Please, dont blame Stan for the unfriendly looking guy with the respirator on, LOL That was MY fault. I sent him a pic of a guy with a respirator. Nick pointed out, would YOU want a guy sprayig toxic chemicals ON your roof ? Nick likes the hybrid USA with a roof on it, the 4th one, and Dave seems to like the 5th from the left.' Both are top row images. I think the blue color scheme on the 4th one is too much blue. What would be slick on the 4th Logo is a before and after on the roof covering the USA. Any OTHER idea's Guys ? C'Mon, this is YOUR Logo
I like the 4th one. It is alot of blue, but I don't think it is too much. I do think that no matter which logo is selected as the final, it should include the word "Certified". Without the word certified, we would have to include that in our own way to convey that message to our clients.

Many people like the 4th one. I especially like the roof over the USA And I agree, the word certified will be in our Logo. Stan Andrew, our graphics guy, just wanted to give us a bunch of choices, then tweak the final one. Do a search for roof cleaning on Google Scott ? This forum. in my area. is coming up on the second page already! This is unheard of for such a new forum. This means "Google Likes Us"
I like this one too Dave, and so does Nick and Scott so far. IMHO, the Roof over the USA is unique and original. I just would like to see it with some differnt color schemes ?
IF we can all agree on this one, then I can approach Stan Andrew Design Studio and ask him to play with colors a bit ?

What do you think about colors Dave ?
Chris and Forum Contributors,
In my opinion, the Color of the USA could be changed to GREEN as it reflects the "GOING GREEN" mentality which is so much " the rage" right now.
I believe that is where our industry is converging upon as well so it would be good to reflect that early on.
Also By contrasting the USA to green it would bring out and contrast the RCIA wording.
However, if you compare the Column LOGO with the USA logo, the INTEGRITY of the Column LOGO clearly stands superior to the USA logo as a "CREDENTIALED LEARNING INSTITUTION"
We all want the Professional Certification to mean something and that should be reflected in the LOGO. Not that the USA logo has no merit, it does, however, it does not have nearly the power or influence that the Column Logo has.
I think we should all sincerely reflect on this fact and not just go for the "Eye Candy"
These are my thoughts on the matter. Please, all of you, consider the points I've addressed and voice yours opinion.
Vote, post, get involved everyone!
Lets get this matter of the LOGO out of the way so we may ALL move on to the next order of business which is CERTIFICATION.
Nice Follow up Stan. Great Variety to choose from. Can you do one with the RCIA LOGO and roof in BLUE with the USA map in an alternate color such as green Lighter, Brighter) to contrast the RCIA lettering and also on with the RCIA in Red with the USA and the roof in Blue? I like the original Roof Cleaning Institute of America shading and highlights the best like the one I originally converted with the italic certified wording in red.
Great job in the developing the graphics here Stan! Thank You
Lets all Call Stan "Stan THE Man" Thank you Stan for going the extra mile for us. My personal opinion is the roof over the USA design is classic and original. In my mind , it is now just a mater of tweaking the colors a bit, Nice work Stan !! And thank you David, and everyone else for all the time YOU people have put into this.
Had a hard time contrasting blue and green because they are of similar scale I used to work for a place called Eckerd Youth Alternatives and they pulled it off with a blend.
The second may too much eye candy. I tried to make blue stand out over green.
The third mimics the other "columns" logo witht the red halftones which is what I think you were looking for. ( I tried this one in green and it looked very Christmas)
The rest are alternate versions of the columns logo which I think has lost out to the USA map.
PS - All my really good friends call me "Roper". Remember Stanley Roper from 3's company? Although I have never minded being called "The Man".
I like the first one on the left. The white A makes the roof stand out. And the green is indicitative of a mildewed roof! Think I like the lettering of the roof cleaning institute in bold, like the ones to the right of the first one on the left ? You know what ? the first one on the left with white letters, what if the RCIA was in Yellow ? Yellow stands out against green and black ?
I think CERTIFIED makes a statement to the customer and a red, white & blue coloring adds the highlight to America , don't forget you have the letters rcia in America if someone can come up with an idea ?
