This is Sal your very old roofer Well yesterday I went to several subdivision all middle class neighbor hoods.. Well I cant believe what I found No BS here, almost every house in each sub division was full algae Every house not just one here or there every sub division I checked out over 5 years old needs work Something I never paid any attention to because I was removing these roofs an installing new. I live a couple miles from water in SC wish I had some idea on how to reach these people Was thinking maybe doing a house for free in the neighborhood and ask if I can put out sign showing before and after pics All my work in the past was public bid schools and such. How do you get to the home owner Maybe one of you need to come here LOL
Sal,..if you've never cleaned a roof before,..make sure you are very comfortable with your process before you put yourself out there and display your work for large groups to critique. Although it's not difficult, there's nothing like in the field experience,..and all this reading isn't gonna make you a roof cleaner,...it's only gonna give you the confidence to try it. I've seen established contractors from these boards branch out into roof cleaning only to give it up after a while,..not to mention how many have started the business and are no longer around.
Doing friends and family is a good way to get started,..or maybe some of your previous roofing customers.
Try not to do too much for free when starting out, save the freebies for Churches and other work in your community once you get established.
