It is very nice to pick up the telephone, and have 4 pre sold roof cleaning customers, on the other end.
One customer said he saw our yard sign, and stopped at a customers house we just did. The customer gave him a glowing suggestion that he call us, to get his roof cleaned.
I can play "roof cleaning salesman" with the best, but it is so much easier to simply pull out an invoice, and start writing work orders.
Nearly 2 grand in business written so far today, and still some of the day left.
We just did 3 jobs today. All 3 were repeats. Gotta love them. We also picked up another in the neighborhood who saw us working. Chris is right. It takes 5 years and sometimes even longer before your name just pops when they need roof cleaning and or pressure washing done.

And, most leave the roof cleaning business, before the miracle happens!
Many of us were ready to quit this business, at one time or another. But now many of us are glad we stuck it out.
It all boils down to repetitiveness. The more ways the customer sees you in advertisement the better. It takes and average of 8 to 10 times before most customers pay attention to your customers. After 5 years many people have see your advertisement more than 10 times.

This success in the roof cleaning business all did not happen "overnight" guys.
It takes about 5 years before "the miracle happens", and word of mouth takes over.
Roof Cleaning is not a get rich quick business, so do not get an overly rosy picture of it.
It is a tough business, full of competition, because it is so easy to learn, and cost so little to get into.
But if you stick it out for about 5 years, it keeps on getting better and better.
That is some good advice and true. I remember when I first started when I pitched roof cleaning I had one customer ask " what do you mean roof cleaning, you going to sweep my roof?" Right then I knew this service is not for the faint at heart. Of course today we get quote requests from all over the country. Cleaning wood roofs or cedar has really taken this service to a a new level for us. I had two calls in one week from California wanting cedar quotes. For some reason they didn't realize I was in Iowa. LOL Branding is a good thing and takes time as you and Marus have pointed out. Again good advice.
I just did a referral Sunday. I cleaned his neighbor's roof a couple of years ago. The HO was so excited about his newly restored roof he stated he will sell the neighbors for me! There's nothing like a satisfied customer working as a sales rep for you.
