This winter has been one for the record book here in Grand Rapids Michigan. It hasn't been since the winter of '78-'79 that we have had so much snow on the ground. Many of the roofs in the area have 2-3 foot of snow on top. With all the weight from the snow, roofs have been collapsing, and we are getting many calls to remove snow and ice dams. The roofs here are designed to hold the weight of 20-35 lbs. per square foot. How much snow is that? Well that will all depend on if the snow is dry or wet. Having 2-3 feet of snow on the roof should not create a cave-in. Yet, there on many things that could affect this. The main thing here in Grand Rapids is the ice dams that are forming on the edge of the roof. This is causing water to leak into homes and causing extensive damage.
If you notice your roof has 2-3 feet of snow on it, or has ice forming on the edge, give us a call today. 616-914-9064

The Roof Snow Removal in Grand Rapids, Mi has been crazy the last few weeks. Along with all the snow on the roofs many houses have ice dams that have formed, causing water to start leaking inside of homes. It is important for home owners to contact their insurance company if they have water damage from the ice dams. Many times the insurance will cover the cost of repairs inside the home, but not the snow and ice removal. But, it would be better to prevent this from even happening. Having the snow removed from roofs when you first notice any ice forming will prevent ice dams from getting so large they hold back water.
