I have an issue with my clients forgetting quite a bit of what I've explained to them about the roof cleaning process. I'm very detailed when I explain everything, but it is becoming a reoccuring problem. It depends on the time of year but sometimes it may take me a month to get to the job.
My question is does anybody leave a pamplet or something explaining the details like lichen will remain till mother nature does her job...
Its really getting annoying and time consuming explaining everything again and again.
I'm thinking of making a pamplet or something.
I had a client an old man calling and complaining about the white lichen on his roof and he was not happy about it.
After explaining everything AGAIN telling him to be patient and give it time.
A month later his wife left me a message accusing me of "preying on old people"
I went back to their house the next day and explained AGAIN(the hole time I could hear his wife inside calling me names and that everything I say is BS)
To shut them up I assured them I will be back in the spring if needed to retreat the roof.
They b#tch about the lichen but not even a thank you for cleaning their shed roof for free.

People suck
They can be unforgiving. Lichen can be a pain anyway. Because I rinse all jobs I have never had an issue. People's expectations can be unrealistic but by rinsing real good that takes the appearance issue out of the process. It appears by your post it was the appearance that was the issue maybe not your explanation you gave? I know many don't rinse and that is fine but the down side from not can be a big headache. Of course with cedar rinsing is a must maybe more important or the most important part of the cleaning process. Many over look that and because many do use SH to clean cedar with the downside of not rinsing correctly can be a bad result. Of course the best approach is not to use SH. As to other types of roofs I would say a good rinsing should resolve the customers concerns like in this case with the white lichen being left behind. I doubt any further or better explanation of the process will resolve that. It appears they or he didn't like the white lichen left behind.
I learned here the RCIA way to clean asphalt shingles so I squirt them and let mother nature due the rest. Its not just this guy and his lichen people seem to forget everything I try to drill into their heads so I'm thinking a pamplet left with them at the estimate might help. I wish I wasn't so technologically retarded when it comes to computers or I'd make them myself.

Opie A pamplet or an information sheet would help , then you can allways say I know did nt you read the info sheet , it explains it , kill them with kindness , you did the right thing , let them know you are not happy either with the looks of the roof its not done yet , also if there is some third party info you can give them so they can read or see , this is the right way to clean the roof , he is telling the truth , continue calling them back after good hard rains , ask does the roof look better, do you see the dead likens on the ground , some of those people can turn out to be your greatest salesmen , after YOU make sure there roof does clean , and that they truly see that you are there best friend in roof cleanning, they will tell all there friends , and everbody will want that great service on there roof , or they should Dabber

This is a great idea! Before you print it, we should all see if together, we can improve it.
Ok after spending ours on it I have a rough draft ready, but for some reason I can't get it to post on here. I can email it to someone if they think they can post it. Computers are evil!!

Save it to some folder on your comp. and then when you try to post it, click browse and select the folder and file name and it should load and post.
