Why clean your asphalt/fiberglass shingles if you don't have to? Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa knows that if your shingle roof is brand new or has just been cleaned, there's no need to wait for fungus stains to appear and take away from the beauty of your home.
On new roofs, either fungus resistant or not, it's just a matter of time before fungus starts to stain shingles, because the environment here in Tampa Florida provides perfect conditions for the rampant proliferation of air-born fungus. The spores land on all surfaces; on your shingle or tile roof they settle, colonize and eventually can cover the entire area with ugly black roof stains. It's at this point that homeowners in Tampa are forced to hire someone, like us, to clean their roofs. This can be a very messy job, and, although our RCIA Certified roof cleaning process is the safest way to remove the stains, we don't advise cleaning your roof more than once. Wouldn't it make sense to by-pass the cleaning process by servicing your roof, like you service your car, with regular maintenance treatments?
THE GUARDIAN ROOF MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, as applied by Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa. prevents the growth of fungus on new roofs, and the return of stains on newly-cleaned roofs forever, GUARANTEED!

Wow that sounds like a no brainer for home owners in Tampa to take advantage of.
If you treated the roof with a 1% solution every year after cleaning it the black streaks would never appear. I know I do this to my own roof and it is spotless. It has been about 5 yrs now.

Very good observation Mike, and something we observed here in Tampa, nearly 20 years ago.

See I do pay attention.
The roof cleaning chemical we all use, has 2 entirely different properties, that are dependent upon it's PH.
It's cleaning capabilities are best, when the PH of the solution is high.
However, it's disinfecting properties emerge, when the PH is lower.
This is why a dilute 1 to 5% solution is superior for treating roofs, and preventing the regrowth of the Cynobacteria, as compared to a 25 to 40% Cleaning solution.
Great idea Chris!!! Maintenance equals residuals. Perfect!
Thanks Mike! Here in Tampa, roofs will get dirty again, after cleaning, unless something is done to prevent the regrowth of the algae. Plus, once the algae gets on the roof, it will spread all over the property, getting the house, driveway, sidewalks, and pool cage and deck dirty as well.

To those of you out there who also do pressure cleaning... Has anyone had success with this 1-5% solution on concrete flatwork(driveways)? After all some roofs are flat concrete tiles.

Kevin, this solution will KILL the algae, not clean, any surface it is sprayed on. We have customers here in Tampa have us spray all their exterior surfaces, to prevent mildew and algae from growing on them.
The heat and humidity here in the Tampa area literally breeds algae and mildew.

Chris, I agree with u, it will kill the algae and I know of the heat and humidity you speak of, I'm 4 hours east of you. However im not talking about cleaning dirty concrete. What im referring to is MAINTAINING clean concrete with a 1-5% solution just like maintaining a roof. If a 1% solution maintains a roof or driveway as good or better than the cleaning solution of 35-50% then thats costs savings for us and therefore lower prices passed on to customers.

Yes, a 5% solution is better for keeping concrete clean, and here is why. S H has 2 components in it, depending on the PH. These 2 components are hypochlorus acid, and the H ion.
The H ion is what does the cleaning, and the acid does the disinfecting. The weaker the SH is, the lower the PH, and the more acid is formed to disinfect and prevent the mildew and algae we get here in Tampa!
