why does anyone use a 12 volt pump

12 v are easy because of the room they take up. I have a 12 v that is 5 yrs old and still running.

When built correctly, 12v systems can last a good length of time. One incorrect fitting or even the wrong size wire will cause consistent malfunction and headaches. It is better to spend a few extra bucks now and do it right.

12v systems are ok.. they may last a year or two or maybe more,, but the price is low enough to just replace it! they are quiet and dont take up much room... But it really comes down to personal preference.. I have both

I have both and prefer the 12 volt. Totally effective. Quiet and peaceful. Sometimes I swap between the 5850 and the Fat boy but I have done plenty of large jobs, 15,000-24,000 sq ft and I'm good. I don't really have many down time issues.

It is like a Mechanics tools, some prefer Snap On, and some like SK Tools, etc, etc.

12 volt roof cleaning pumps just do not hold up long for us, but we clean a lot of roofs everyday, year round.

Thanks Eric I did not even think of the space they take up you are right the compressor takes up alot of room , and makes alot of noise , thanks for the info have a great holiday Dabber

I use both but love the Allflo. I like making noise when cleaning so they all look to see what is going on.

Us too! We have actually gotten new roof cleaning business we would not have had, had the neighbors not heard us.

The larger an air pump is, the less noisy it is. The small 3/8 roof cleaning pumps really make a racket, but the larger 1 inch pumps basically, just sit there, and "fart".

Yes, I agree,..I like having the engines running and "sound" like we're working for our easy money. We not only run the compressor but also the pressure washer with a 0030 nozzle for wetting plants, windows, etc... So we make lots of attention,..hard working noise,Ha,Ha,...

Aside from that though, yes,..the air pumps are simpler,..and less attention to detail is required,.."Learning" curve on DIY air system is nil compared to 12v. But in the end,..to each their own.

As far as the noise, I guess I just prefer it quiet (pacific means peaceful in Spanish) but also because my market demands it. In the last month we did a maternity hospital and a large elderly care facility. I know they would have had a problem with the sound. Besides, I live in California, if I disturb someone's peace I could be sued.

I have always used a 12v. Started with the 5850 and now the fat boy. I dumped the relay switch and use a continuous solenoid the same used for plows and lift gates. I run two 12v batteries parallel will last about four full days without charging. I also use a accumulator tank so there is no cycling of the pump when I cut back flow. Cleaning cedar I work in some high end areas and start early in the morning when it is cool, keeps thing nice and quiet. I buy the fat boys that come with a heat shield so no over heating.
