I'm posting this in the General Area because there are roof cleaners up and down the East coast and I'm sure there are a few northern "collectors" here.
I contacted Burton and a few others just to see what the going price was and I have been getting some pretty possitive replys after sending this "Request for Information"!!!!!
I was just surfing the web and looking to see what older Burton’s are going for, price wise. I did not see any that resemble by old board on this site and not many of the thousands of other sites I have been surfing. I did see a few that were sold for a few grand a few years ago on a couple of sites. My board has the “83” natural wood look but has the “84” tail. It doesn’t have any of the newer pin stripe design that made the boards look high tech back then, but it does have Jake’s name on it and the other shapers name and also the registration number. I only used this board a few times and it has a few scars but the rubber boot and back strap is still in the same condition as when the last time I rode this tank.
I’m sure your familiar with Steve Derrah (Flite)! He actually fitted me (bindings) for a custom, experimental, snowboard in his shop in Newport, Rhode Island. My friend Dennis Sullivan worked for him and I was able to get fitted for my stance and after that, never looked back at the Burton. A few years later I trashed myself on a half pipe and then moved to Florida (West Palm and then to Tallahassee). The Flite was the first fiberglass snowboard with bindings (the older Flite was just a long piece of fiberglass with a rope on the nose) and I WISH TO GOD I STILL had that thing! I still have the Burton though and wondering what it’s going for. It’s not for sale but I would just like to know what it would go for if it was.
This was a post I found from 2008. I'll send more pictures, of any view you would like.
This snowboard was only used by ME ONLY and just a few times (3 times when I was a teenager and now I am in my mid 40's ...holly cow ... ) and the bottom of the board and the metel skegs reflects whith minor scratches.
If you want it, you know what it's worth in 2013 world. And I'd rather take a "dirt nap" then give this thing away! LOL
