Eric, Just received our second order of the season, doubled up on the 1st. Kinda reminds me of a powdered lemon aid smell. Masks well enough and Russ ships pronto.
Just used a gallon, going to re-order tomorrow, works as advertised, 8 oz for 40-50g and all is lemon. If your in a tight space or a commercial or retail job I would use it, out on 2 acres, who cares. I still remember the day-care kids screaming about it smelling like a pool.
I love the gain smell, but lemons might be better.. The gain has covered the SH smell so much that I barely were a mask anymore... its just smells sweet now.. not harsh at all..

I wonder what it smells like, mixed with Gain, and how long the lemon smell lasts in the tank ?
Nearly every roof cleaner I know well here in Florida is using Gain now, including us.
A good way to tell is to pour some roof cleaning chemical into a glass, and mix in the Lemon Smell, then see how long it lasts ?
If it don't last very long, or eats up your mix, it is not a "deal breaker", just use it right away, when you clean roofs.
The Lemon-Aid mixes well with chlorine and Roof Snot, and will not degrade the mix, but there have been reports of separation with Gain and other detergents. Apparently some of the chemicals in other products won't play nice with Lemon-Aid.

So now, instead of breathing chlorine fumes that smell like chlorine, you're breathing chlorine fumes that smell like lemons. Might rethink the mask.

Eric, I tried this and it works. I use it with Gain all the time and found I do not have to use nearly as much Lemon Aid. As for the separation, I use what I mix for the day so no problems here. I don't use it all the time but only as needed like Mike explained.
JC Stomper .... Masking agents, like Lemon Aid and Green Apple, do just that ... MASK the smell. Gotta wear a mask dude, especially when the solution steams up on a hot asphalt roof!

I told Lori about Green Apple, and where to get it from. Chlorine Stable Fragrances and Surfactants have had a great deal of interest with me, for a very long time.
Even though these fragrances are "Chlorine Stable", it does not always mean "forever".
We have found, as you have, it is always best to add your masking fragrance, then use it right away.
The masking effect seems to be the strongest, when first added, then degrades a bit, over time.
Back a very long time ago, we had an entire subdivision to clean. We used Roller Pumps back then, and they have a bypass hose that goes back into the tank.
This bypass hose provides for constant agitation of the roof cleaning mix, and allowed us to use nearly Pure Pine Oil as the masking agent.
Pine Oil will mostly float on top of the tank like big glob, but, when it is being constantly agitated, it worked.\
However, IMHO, it smelled worse, then the chlorine alone!
LOL, even customers remarked "My roof smells like a high school bathroom"
Funny story about the Lemon Aid from Southside Equipment, just last week there was a fencing contractor installing a new wood fence a few houses down from a roof I was spraying. The guy yells to the other guy over the noise of the radio and gas post hole auger "hey man...what's that guy spraying on that roof?"the other guy yells "not a clue but it smells pretty damn good!"
I also use Green Apple from Florochem. In the South East, you can only get if from X-terior in North Carolina unless you want a 55 gallon drum straight from the manufacturer in Jacksonville, FL. It's not on their site and you have to call to order it. I don't have a clue why it's not listed and I tell them to put it up there everytime I order it.

Did Lori stop selling it ? I have not talked to her in a long time. If you have tried to buy 55 gallons of it, then you know sellers of it are not exactly "making a fortune", by the time they pay frieght, and bottling costs, etc, etc, etc
It never ceases to amaze me how some will bitch about "all the money distributors make" as they sit at the local bar, and pay 14.50 for a pitcher of beer and some Chicken Wings they could have made, and had at home, for 5.50.

lol. true that... I know its still unhealthy. I just forget now cause it doesnt stink..
actually, i havent been on a roof in a few weeks, My crew has been really working out great, and all I'm doing now is driving around for estimates, answering phones, and closing deals....
