I'm just curious what is everybody is using for tieing off there ladder's on there truck rack's I came across something that works well and is easy to use I will post some picks Sunday night it's open season for Walleye this weekend in the Bay of Quinte and I'm do for a good fishing trip!Cheers..
I use a 3' long piece of self adhesive velcro tape that is 2" wide. I tape the pieces of velcro together and then wrap the assy around the ladder rungs to hold it to the truck ladder racks.

I use a chain and padlock...It takes time but I can't risk them coming off and hurting someone....also when left in the "yard"no one walks off with them. I gotta say I like hanks setup.
That is what I'm using Marcus, the velcro straps work great they hold up to the cold winter's too I will never go back to bungie cords or ropes, I have had a 36' and 32' ladder's tied together with the velcro straps going down the back roads and they worked great I put two straps in the front and two on the back with no problems..
Hank. those look great. And could be easily adapted for a trailer or a ladder rack. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Hank I appreciate your sharing this item with us. I just installed mine on my ladder rack. The velcro straps would hold the ladder but not tight so it always rattled. With the BoatBuckle G2 it not longer rattles and is held quite secure. No more going over speed bumps or pot holes having to wonder if the strap is going to give.
I bought this item from West Marine. I bought it in Stainless Steel part # 6881023 for $119.99 a pair. The product is made by BoatBuckle and it is called a Transom Retractable Tie-Down System. Their part # is F14256. You might be able to google it and find a cheaper price.
It is cheaper if you want just plain steel West Marine part# 406803 for $72.00 a pair.

Marcus,
I'm glad you like them. They have never let me down. I've towed my bass boat up and down the east coast and even in New York City(long story) with no worries.

I made up hooks that are attached to the front of the ladder rack, simply push the ladder on until it is stopped by the hook. This prevents the ladder flying off in the event I forget to tie it.

and what else have you been doing with them chains and pad locks?
I was so happy with the BoatBuckle Transom Retractable Tie-Down System part # is F14256 that I ordered two more sets today for my other ladder racks. No more clanking of ladders when I go over speed bumps or hit pot holes. Even my 32' ladder did not budge due to slack in the straps. Now I can listen to my radio again and actually hear it instead of the clanking of ladders on the racks. I googled the part # and found a place that sold them for $83 + shipping at Sails Marine Team.
