They generally are cheap pumps because they are from China! Please post a link so we can have a look at the inside components, to see if they will last cleaning roofs with our chemicals

One thing about pumps, in most cases they are VERY cost effective, especially if rinsed out. Sure, at this point I don't want to be changing pumps and having them break on the job, BUT,..almost any pump you choose for roof cleaning is gonna pay for itself many times over, and you just deal with the breaking down for now,.. so you just do that until you buy better longer lasting pumps. More important than toughness in a pump,.. is pressure and more importantly flow.

Larry is correct! These Northern Tool pumps do not last, so why mess with them, when tried and true 12 volt Delavan roof cleaning pumps are avaliable, cheap.

He already has one, so why not try it and use it for two or three jobs and then buy the better one. Probably what I'd do in his position.

Oh, I did not realize he had one already. Yes, by all means, use what ya got, rinse it out good as SOON as the job is finished, and use it, till it dies!

Once, nearly 18 years ago, I got an entire subdivision to clean! All I had was little shurflo 12 volt pumps, beck then. I even combined them, but they were still slow.

So, I tried roller pumps! They spray like a Motherfunker (for about 2 weeks), and then they die.

LOL, I bought a CASE of them (24 pumps) for 55.00 each, and a bunch of pressure regulators, and did that subdivision.

So what the 55 dollar roller pumps died in 2 weeks ?

They allowed me to do from 6 to as much as 10 roofs a day!

I have the pump you are speaking about and did about 30 roofs last year (only do it on the weekends) with it. I rinsed it out after every use with about 15 gallons fresh water after every use and it is still working like new.. For the $$$$ you can not beat it... I am going to Northern to buy a back up for this year..

I have 2 of those northern tool pumps. one at 3.3 gpm and one at 5.5gpm. the seals have been fine (we rinse them out a little) but they heat up so fast and the thermal relief will shut them off. they are a pain. its hard to finish a job without having trouble with them. we've blown 20 amp fuses many times and melted a switch once. i did pay the extra 10 bucks to get free replacement for a year or two and it couldn't be easier (we've replaced one already).
