SEO question for Chris ...

What’s up Brother Chris!

As we talked about many times before and we both know, I’m no stranger to SEO, but I'm looking for some input from you about “Forum" SEO. I have my own dedicated server with Host Gator and have quite a few sites on it, including my own, that I maintain. Most here know ... but a few newbies might not know ... that I’m also a part time Google affiliate which in a nutshell means that those websites have price-per-click Google ads (PPC) on highly ranked sites.

My question is ..  If a forum style blog would bring SEO juice to a website if was only used as a blog? I have a few blogs for my site and here are a few:

http://tallahasseepressurecleaning.blogspot.com/

http://politicalsimpleton.blogspot.com/

http://www.propowerwash.com/board/upload/blog.php?11571-Tally-Roof-Cleaning

Besides blogs, I have Squido Lenses, press releases (PR.Com) and member of just about every forum out there and the list goes on and on ... blah, .. blah .. blah .. BUT … I want some expanded off the chain SEO juice and want to know what the effects of having a “forum” attached to your website has done for your SEO over the years?

There are multiple forums out there and most are an offspring of their website. Like I said, I have a dedicated server thru Host Gator and they offer PHPBB 3 type forums like Vbulletin (http://www.hostgator.com/apps/phpbb-hosting ) and it doesn’t cost me a dime because I have the dedicated server and reseller package.

If I set it up and use it as a blog, on my server, through my main domain name, what would the SEO benefits be to my site? Would it be looked at as a more authorative site because it has a so called “forum” attached to it? Would it have more SEO juice then a Blogger blog? Would Google rank my site higher because of the forum in the domain name?

I have searched high and low and even asked in a few SEO forums and I’m getting mixed results on adding a forum to my server and using it as my own personal blogging platform.

Chris, If this is moved to the “Members Only” area, give me a call to discuss this. I’m am only a  “Guest” now and won’t be able to see your reply. Actually, it might be better if you call because it’s pretty complex and could take a few brewskies to soak a reasonable explanation in.  LOL

Add On to my original post above:

This is for the "Tin Foil Hat" people who think I might be trying to take over the roof cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, house washing, deck restoration, concrete driveway and high-rise cleaning forums...

I AM !!!!!   furious

I have NEVER had any forum "attached" to my personal website or websites, and having a blog on my company website has HURT me, because like a dumb fuk, trying to give people here a link, Google droppped my websites ranking!

BOTH RCIA Forums are stand alone forums, not part of a website, like PWI is. PWI is a page, on Ron Musgraves personal website, you might ask him.

That sux about your ranking Chris. I'm sure it will jump back up and it might only be the old "Google Dance". Usually when Google see's an abnormal amount of inbound or outbound links in a short period of time, it throws up some red flags and drops the site a few notches. But, once the algorithum realizes it's not some "Black Hat" shinanigans, it comes back pretty quick.

I'm getiting mixed messeges on the whole forum topic. Some say yes it does help SEO and others say no. Screw it. It sounds like to much work for such little return. I'll just keep doing the old trusted and proven method which is adding ORIGINAL, quality content to the site.

Unfortunately Ray, The RCIA (and me) have some very vocal enemies, that just love to spread untrue rumors and alegations behind my back.

One of these rumors went like this "The RCIA is just a Big SEO Scam for Chris"

When I made the first RCIA Forum, my company website WAS number one Google. Well, guess what ? The RCIA Forum is now number one, and my personal website has dropped badly, all because I tried to give my members and friends  some backlinks on the blog attached to my company website.

I was unaware I had to approve all Blog Comments, and a member said his comments, and the backlink he expected from my company website, was not materializing.

So, I went into my blog, and approved many comments (abou 30) that had links in them, all at once!

This screwed me, and I am still trying to recover from it.

If "The RCIA is just a Big SEO Scam for Chris" I would have done a Ron Musgraves, who made PWI a page on his company website.

Every hit on PWI is a hit on Ron Musgraves company website, and greatly helps Ron Musgraves SEO.

I know all about SEO Ray, and yes, had I done that (made the RCIA Forum a part of my company website), it would have greatly benefitted Apple Roof Cleaning.

Every hit on the RCIA Forum would have been a hit for Apple Roof Cleaning!

But, I chose not to, and here is why.

I did not want to FUK up my members SEO.

My company, Apple Roof Cleaning, is about roof cleaning in Tampa, and not roof cleaning where my friends and members live and work!

Because PWI is a part of Propowerwash.com (Ron Musgraves Personal Website), it is all about cleaning sidewalks in Arizona, not roof cleaning in new jersey!

In fact PWI has a URL called Propowerwash.com/board !

No shit, see for yourself, this is the URL for PWI http://www.propowerwash.com/board/upload/forum.php

Thus, Google sees PWI as what it really is,  a part of Ron Musgraves Concrete Cleaning Company In Arizona, just another page on his website.

So, to answer your question Ray, if you set up a forum the way Ron Musgraves set up PWI, then yes, it will greatly benefit YOUR SEO, at the SEO expense of your members.

This is not to say that  PWI is "worthless" as far as SEO goes either, because that certainly is untrue. But PWI should have been given it's own URL long ago, and "set free" from being associated with Ron's personal company.

The Grime Scene, Cleaning Talk, The RCIA and UAMCC Forums, are all "stand alone" forums Ray, with their own URL's.

Here is the URL for The Grime Scene http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/forum.php

Beth, who owns the Grime Scene, also owns the company  See Dirt Run

Though the Grime Scene is linked to her website, it has a stand alone (different) URL from her personal company website, unlike PWI.

Thus, she does not enjoy the tremendous SEO Boost Ron Musgraves does, every time someone clicks on PWI.

But, it gives her forum (The Grime Scene), it's own "identity"

Chris, I very sorry to hear that your ranking has been adversely affected, while trying to help us!
I certainly hope it recovers quickly. It seems like I read somewhere, that someone had a drop in their rankings and called Google and got it fixed?

I stopped typing above and postsed, this is an edit.

I just searched Google "Tampa Roof Cleaning" and Apple ranks Page One: 1,3,4,5,7,8.

I hope this makes you feel better Chris!

Must be Google fixed it already?

Hmmmm, I just used this free tool link. I put in http://www.bergmanpressurewashing.com/
It says "Javascript must be enabled to view the Photo Album on this page."
My RCIA logo does not show and my Youtube [Tubechop] roof cleaning video shows an NBA basketball clip?? SUPER WEIRD!
What is up? Any ideas Chris or anybody?
