Was called out to a house to provide homeowners with a quote. Just over 1800 square foot of actual roof shingles that were red. It's a walkable ranch roof. We've done all color shingles but never red. I was wondering if there were any past positive or negative experiences out there with red asphalt shingles. Call it what you want(gut feeling, woman's intuition, insight, etc) but I bumped my number to 33 cents a square foot. Mostly black algae and lichen. The customer has hired us for a May cleaning.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

 No worries Hank! Orange Shingles clean up the VERY best. Red will look good when done, especially when you use some soap (Gain, Ammonyx, etc) on them.

Like any shingle, they always look their very best, after a rain. LOL, remember, tell your customers "No one can rinse a roof, like God can" 

I have done a few red and green roofs and they both clean up just fine. Like Chris said, they even look better after a couple rains. We did a stone coated decra roof a couple weeks ago that was red and it cleaned up great.

Thanks guys. We don't get many red asphalt shingled roofs up here and I wanted to throw caution to the wind.

We've been busy on all levels. Website is up and running. Facebook page is complete. Now I just have to figure out how to "like" people. Google Plus page is completed and sent off to web developer. Calls are coming in from all over the Poconos and parts of New Jersey. Booking plenty of work. Kids have me running around like there is no tomorrow. These are all good things my friend.
