Gain dish soap vs Gain laundry detergent

Kevin you seem like a nice guy that has been asking alot of questions looking for easy answers. Some in the past have given you answers to your questions. So I will ask you a question...Why don't you become a premium member and then you can read and find out the answers?

I know it's a little more expensive than the soap but the idea was floating around my head so I'm just throwing it out there. And as a bonus you can make the roof smell like lavender or apple mango tango LOL!

There is a very good answer as to the use of use gain laundry detergent and your paying for a membership here, will get you that answer. The savings in 1 year will much more than cover the money you can lose, not knowing!

thread and contribute to the forum. Prove to some of the veterans. That you are not a fly buy night and that you will on time return the favor. There is some of the best roof cleaners. In the industry. Here and they are loaded with skill and knowledge. These veterans are more than willing to help you and share anything with you... Just take it easy with all the questions

Yeah only after I pay up. Right now $129 is better spent on my baby boy's hospital bills and seizure meds, not what soap to use. Ill stick to what I know works and keep learning by doing as I've done my whole life.

We are not mean people here, and my heart goes out to anyone with a sick child. I looked at the MDSD sheet for Gain Laundry Detergent, and it has this chit in it Ethanolamine. It also hase Ethanol in is. Ethanol is a Tertiary Alcohol, and can actually boost the Chlorine we all use. It is used in my Apple Cider Roof Cleaning Formula.

However, the fire that burns the brightest, goes out the quickest, meaning that the addition of Ethanol, or any Tertiary Alcohol liike Isopropyl with burn your mix up fast. It should be mixed on site, then all used up right away.

The PROBLEM I am seeing in Gain Laundry detergent is this chit - Ethanolamine. It appears it is NOT Chlorine Compatable, meaning I would not use Gain Laundry Detergent in my mix.

Liquid Gain Ultra Original Scent Dishsoap is to be had at Family Dollar store, 44 ounces, for 3 dollars. 2 or 3 bottles of this stuff, in 100 gallons of mix, does a decent job of hiding the smell of chlorine mixtures.

Plus, it has been proven to work well, in roof cleaning mixtures.

My little Grandson has Asthma, poor little guy. When I hold him, I hate to hear him wheeze .

Thank you Chris for being the only one to give me a simple straight answer. Thats all I ask. You are a gentleman. I wish I knew half of what you do and I wish our kids and grandkids could be perfect and healthy but we have to make the best of what life gives us.

Good Luck with that baby boy... Take care and good luck learning it the hard way. The only question that you have to ask your self would be: Which is going to cost me less? Should I pay and learn from members of the only roof cleaning association in America or overpay by learning it the hard way by myself. Only you can answer that question and I respect your decision either way.

I respect your comment because you older and wiser but if all that is true then why are you a guest and not a premium member? Opps sorry I said I wouldnt ask any more questions so just ignore that one.

I did a side by side test a couple weeks ago Kevin. The Gain dishwashing soap was a far better surfactant than the Gain laundry soap.

Don't take it personal on the membership question. For some it is a budget issue and understandable. One thing this is the open side of the forum which means anyone can drop by pick what they want and just more on. Thus the premium side.

I remember years back when I first came over here. I read for days through the search tap. Back then you ask a question you had better be ready for some, what appeared to be unfriendly feedback. LOL In the end it did serve a purpose.

You'll find that just trying things and experience will take you along ways. Don't be afraid to experiment. I can tell you from experience it pays off. I cannot tell you how many different things I have tried over the last couple years trying to perfect my mix, though I have 98% of my work cleaning wood roofs, which requires many different ingredients based upon many different factors. Unlike asphalt where one mix pretty much covers all.

In the end you'll find that just about everything has been tried one way or another.

Also, starting out I couldn't give a roof cleaning away. LOL No one here had heard of such a thing. The issue wasn't cleaning a roof, that comes pretty fast, it was getting the work. Now years later I have all to do to keep up with the work. Not a bad problem to have!

When I started foucusing on educating the home owners more than how to clean a roof, my business took off.

There still isn't a day goes by that someone asks what I mean about cleaning a roof.

I recommend you also research ways to educate the home owners about the benefits of cleaning a roof.

Chris is most certainly very nice!
Of course, this being public info for free now, will not help raise the RCIA premium membership.
Folks just stop in, get what they want and leave-using the valuable knowledge they Gained for free, to compete with their local RCIA premium members.
But, I'm not complaining, just saying why I didn't just throw this guest and everyone who freely reads this thread, the answer.

I swear to God, if it would not piss off our paying members, I wanted to freaking GIVE that young father with the sick Kid a membership, and trust him to pay eventually.

This is not a "money thing" for me. My roof cleaning business supports me, not the RCIA.

I do not see him as a threat to anyone here at the RCIA. I see him as a young father, with a very sick child, trying to work, and support his family.

Would anyone get angry with me, if I help this young father, with a very sick child, by trusting him to pay for a membership, when he can ?

The RCIA Forums have enough SEO power to help this young father break into his market.

His life must suck right now, dealing with a child who has seizures, with very little money coming in.

May I please have permission from you members to do what I feel is the right thing here ?

Now that this is on the premium side I will share an experiance I have had with the Gain dish washing soap. On Asphalt shingles with no moss or heavy Lichen it worked well, my helper noticed right away a better cling and slower run. Now right before Thanks Giving I did a roof that had a decent amount of moss on it, the first spray seemed to the trick but we gave it a second coat. Withen four weeks not much came off,eight weeks much of the same. We had a enough snow and rain to remove the dead moss by now, there is a third of it still on there and very noticable and I will have to retun to remove it. So I have to think/wonder why? What was different this time? This year? The only thing different was the gain, so here is what I think. The gain goes on thick and slow giving you a false sense of security on heavy moss/Lichen. not enough strong Sh is hitting the stuff. So until further testing I say this.....Roof with small lichen or moss fine with Gain....Heavy stuff less soap of any brand and possible 3 coats. Just a heads up for now........
