First off, the new forum is un-viewable to the general public (our custumers). We can see all posts because we are members and "logged in" but anyone who is not a member and finds one of our posts that are indexed can not view that post because they are not a member. Is this going to change anytime soon?
Also, is there a "pecking" order for who get's their posts pinned? Or a fee to have a post pinned? Here in the "Asphalt & Fiberglass Shingle Roof Cleaning" section (picture below), there are posts that are pinned and never leave the top. I circled the dates of when they where posted (last month) and posts that were just today. The pinned posts from last month stay on top and will stay on top forever until they are un-pinned.
Gary, I will drive out to your neck of the woods from Tallahassee with my rig and work for free for a week if I can have a pinned post in three catagories. Anyone with serious SEO should know that having posts "pinned" to the TOP is gold and my offer to Gary is a bargain for what I would get in return from having promo post's "pinned"!
This Pinning stuff needs to STOP. It is the WORST thing from an SEO standpoint you can do to a Forum.
It keeps Old Content up top of the forum, and is a bad idea. I don't think it even helps the SEO of the poster in the pinned thread, because when Google sees a Pinned (Sticky) thread, it knows it is Old Content!
I need to investigate WHY the new forum is not allowing our visitors to see it ?
when going on the other site from a friends computer, all that is seen is the top box. The "general Discussion" box. Nothing below it shows up. So if we are posting in the roof cleaning discussion area, where we should post pics of our work, it cannot be seen by anyone.

I sent a suppport request into the forum people, it will be fixed shortly.
I went to the forum on a different browser, and saw what you mean!
Yes, thanks for unpinning the threads.
Pinned and Sticky are the same thing. I hate sticky threads on Forums, because often there are so many of them, you have to wade through them, to get to the fresh content.
Google hates them too, because they usually represent OLD vs New Content.
The New Forum is an SEO Machine. It not only generates a new site map whenever a new post is made, it also goes and tells Google to come crawl the forum, because it has new content to offer!
From an SEO Prospective, Sticky or Pinned threads were considered by some to be good for SEO, because being at the Top of the Forum, it insured that they got crawled by Google.
And, on some Forums (this one, and most others) that would be true, because this Forum does not generate a site map at all, or tell Google what to do.
However, the New Forum is a state of the art SEO Machine, or I would not have bought it.
Here is what's cool.
If you have made a Blog or Promotional Post on the new forum say a month or 2 ago, and then you add another post to that thread, here is what happens.
A new forum site map is generated, and a ping is sent to Google to come see the new content!
On THIS, and most other forums, the new post you made to an old thread MIGHT get crawled, or maybe not.
Google is like a Dog, that wants to please, it just has to be told what to do.
HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!!!!! Someone is finally able to see what I have been seeing on my end and have been talking about it for a while but nobody was seeing it. I thought I was going freek'in nuts!!!
