I buy from a chlorine distributor locally $1.08 a gallon

They have 3 1000 gal tanks with 2 pumping stations on each.

They told me to put the "plackards" stickers they give me, on any container with chlorine in it, because if I get in an accident and the tanks are not marked properly and anything leaks at all onto the road, the cops have to call it in and they said I'd get a $5000.00 fine from the EPA.

Heck, a couple of years ago, I killed 2 plants on a job and went to replace them. I pulled the old ones out and put them in the back of my Suzuki Sidekick SUV and then planted the new ones.

I left and had red ants on my leg. They were in those 2 plants, so I pulled into a backwoods-undeveloped area and put them on the side of the road there. Before I could get back in and leave, a flashing light cop car pulled up behind me and asked if I was dumping.

I explained.

He said I was caught on one of the cams they have set up and that he was required to give me a ticket.

The judge listened and fined me ZERO.

He said I had to pay $385.00 mandatory EPA charge!

I can't imagine dumping 50 - 150 gallons of SH in an accident!!!

That's how much I can carry in my tanks + occasionally, a 2nd 100 gal tank in the truck bed.

Now I have an enclosed trailer, so at least it's not in plain site anymore.

If I remember correctly, you got stopped once before, some years ago?

Didn't you say you thought some competitor alerted them to watch for you?

Or am I confused?

My mechanic was road testing one of our trucks, and was stopped by DOT this morning. Then, a State Trooper pulled up.

He was asked what was in the dual 325 gallon tanks. He said he did not know, so the DOT Guy caled me. It said blocked call on my caller ID.

I thought it was a competitor a first, asking all kinds of questions. The DOT guy asked me what was in the tanks, I told him it was water, with a little bleach in it.

NEVER ever say Pool Chlorine or Sodium Hypochlorite!

Then, you have to placard (mark ) the Tanks, and get someone with a CDL to drive the truck!
