I'll admit it, I am a dinosaur... a Luddite when it comes to technology and software. One of my goals for 2013 is to get more automated in our office processes. We do not have an automatic system for totaling revenue and expenses, we still tabulate this by hand.
So my question is what software is everyone Using? I'd like something that could give me weekly and monthly revenue reports so I can compare and contrast 2013 2010, etc. Easy and simple data input is needed, As well as invoicing and payment tracking.
Help!!!!! I am drowning under a mountain of paperwork!

ACT is only as good as what you put in it. I suggest putting all customer job quotes, customer info - ie name, address, phones, job quotes, jobs, jobs completed, customer likes, dogs name ... get the drift. I use it also to data mine. I know when I last cleaned their house, roof, etc and send out reminder cards for them to have the service performed again. It is easier to keep an old customer than it is to get a new customer. That is what you call stay in your face marketing. Do not let your old customers forget who you are. When a repeat customer calls I ask for their address and can usually find them by only typing in the numerical field of their address and searching for it. Ray, PM me with your email and I will send you a screen capture of how I have set ACT up.
It is so much easier to start your business with a customer database like ACT & Quickbooks in place than to do so later. But it is never too late because the longer you procrastanate the more work it becomes...
I have been using QuickBooks since 2004. Never no problems, and the customer service on the help and question end was good when we needed it. I did however look into Service Autopilot from the recommendation above, and it looks like something that would work great for our industry. I'm going to personally do a little more research on this product in the near future.
Jason are you using this, or just recommending it?

I'm just recommending it, Barry. I've been a QuickBooks user since 2007. Someone told me about Service Autopilot a few months back. I looked into it and I'm very impressed. I found some online videos about it. Last week I talked with the owner and he took me through an online demo. I'll be making the switch within the next few months.

It is hard to change when you get old and I have learned to let others test the waters first before making a plunge. Please keep us informed Jason and thank you for sharing with us.
Quickbooks for me too. The mobile app really comes in handy and it's nice being able to convert proposals to invoices, and keep all my accounts receivable, contacts, etc. in order.
