Gutter cleaning section Ad.

Noticed something today. In a publication I used to spend money on an ad.
I been watching this over 5 years. A big time PW company, always had an ad in the PW section...Never seen them with a big expensive ad in the gutter cleaning section?

Are they hurting or expanding? Why spend the money on an ad????

I been looking more often lately cause I need a lil bump in jobs. Till the last season of the year opens up.

My question is. Right now, up north. Would you spend money to expand right now if you are doing fine! Better than last year. I wouldnt?

Go into a smaller paying section and put a big azz ad if you are doing fine?

Or are you hurting?

If your doing good then you want that momentum to keep going. Pw and gutter cleaning go hand and hand. There is a nice market for gutter cleaning and it is a nice way to keep your employees busy and put more money into the business acct. So if you advertise for gutter cleaning that means you usually have the fund to do it and your business is fine.

Business has been going well for us, but I don't want to add on gutter cleaning because I hate doing gutters with extension poles. Roofs that can be walked I am all for it. I am thinking about going door to door with my assistant tech offering gutter cleanings for homes that are walkable. Its nice extra cash.

Dan how do you clean gutters (inside) with an extension pole. This thread is all about inside cleaning.

Lol Hank told me he did it, so I gave it a whirl. You just climb up to the top of the ladder and use the pole to pull the leaves towards you. I have been using the threaded tip of the extension pole. It works, it just takes much longer than a walkable roof. We have been looking into something to rake underneath the rods.

I dissagree. I think he hurting, needs to add more work. There is more to this. His trucks and trailwers are bigger than mine.

Comming into a cheap ass market. Lot of competition.

He hurting, doing what I would do.

Mike I see your point but if you have employees then you find ways to keep them busy.

With these stupid center hall colonials they build here with the huge dormers, valleys, etc. there is no other way of reaching them. I won't even mention the uneven terrain around the footprint of the house. I hate architects.  Some homes we will get $2,$3 and $4 a foot as the homeowners will wait to the last minute to clean their gutters(inside only). If anyone is in the area I would love to show you Blue Mtn Lake Estates or Country Club of the Poconos. These homes are all done with 40' ladders. It's a must.

I would love to hear other ideas.

Hank
