Yellow pages, pay per call vs. ad

From what I have heard from marketing people, the yellow pages are a thing of the past. Most people today search on the internet. Much faster.

I did an ad under roof cleaning in the 2011 phonebook and got no calls at all. However my large ad under power washing did quite well! Roof cleaning only accounts for about 20% of my business.

I can attribute over 30k in up revenue in 2012 on a $2500 ad!

I hear the demographic tilt, older people or senior citizens can be harder for us to sell and please.

I personally don't use the Yellow pages, have not for years.

Is pay per call a bad ROI in the under 2k residential niche market at 12.00 per call ?

agreed! in 10 years they will be totally irrelevant, but until then, we'll keep our ads in them!

They don't pay the bills anyway. They are too cheap.

I will never do the yp ad again. I did it 4 yrs ago and what a big waste of money.

I did the pay per call, got two free ad's 2x2, 12.00 a call. no ad fee. Pay for performance!

calls taped, first 90 seconds free, with a credit policy for bad calls.

Service magic is for low ballers. It sucks.

I have bid about 5 Service Magic leads this summer and have sold about 2-3 of them, not the highest quality, sometimes the houses will surprise you in size.

There seems to be no secret bullet other than the internet, reach magazine, not great, post cards, less than 1%, Realtor referrals, not much, signs, some action, client referrals, a few hear and there, rig visibility, some calls, internet marketing, 75% of our business.

Trade shows done right have yielded great results.

Some residential contractors will pay up to 100.00 per lead for major home repair, for 8-13k jobs.
