Water spraying out of upper housing just to the left of switch. So small I can not see a hole or crack !!  When taking upper housing apart , twisted off 4 of the stainless steel bolts. Extreme heavy corrosion. Is this the norm for a pump 2 years old but only did about 20 cleaning jobs ? Delevan 5850 demand pump.

    Might be good idea to take out bolts and lube periodically ?

  I always flush pump with about 15 gal. water after use.

Are you flushing the pump by running water from the spigot on the house? If so it may exceed the working pressure of the pump and create a leak.

Look for a air leak on the suction side.

Joe seriously? Ok man world war III. Air Pump vs 12v. You started it, lets do this!!

Air systems are more expensive. I got about a year out of Rigid Compressors cleaning roofs everyday. 

The rust from the mix takes the air tanks on them out 

The extra speed is worth it to me. No 12 volt pump can come close to the speed of our big air pumps, and we do a LOT of tile roofs and soffit cleaning, we need to use really small nozzles at times, a 12 volt pump cycles and blows up if you do this.

The 5850 Delevan has less GPM, and cycles less then a fat boy, but it is slow.

No doubt!  That one belongs on a trophy wall or something   LOL.

We go through them like hot cakes, then again, I abuse the heck out of them. When I have a bunch in the pump 'bone yard' I troubleshoot them, cannibalize and rebuild working pumps from them.

I won't touch the air vs 12v topic, but lets just say that 12v lends itself VERY well to our sales play. 

As an aside, if you tweaked the PSI of the pump up much above 60psi, you'll get hairline cracks or pin holes in that poly pump head assembly very quickly. 

I can honestly say that we have been running the 5850 for just alittle over 3 months. No problems and we work the shit out of the pump we use it for roof cleaning and also apply our housewash mix. I think it actually better than the all flow 3/8 pump as far as spraying goes. We have increased productivity and we are one step closer to green cleaning. Not using any gas to power our pumps. The whole operation is really quite now and i love it. Flip a switch and start spraying. How easy is that.

I use both and love them the same!

 

I hear ya guys.  We have an assortment of ladders now, but trust me, I'm not the one heftin' them around or using them  

A lot of our clients really appreciate it, that's for sure.
